Ding, just hit 20

Okay, so now I am 20. This doesn't mean much to me, though it apparently means something to my extended family. I suppose it is a good thing, as I am now closer to achieving a status of "real person" and not just "dumbass kid." Because kids my age are undeniably dumbasses. And as a burly lumberjack once told me, 19 is the worst year to be.

But this new year is still going to be like 19, I know it. Why does everything have to be so dumb and lonely? Why would any higher power create a world where you could go for 20 whole years and still not be happy or have accomplished anything? God has obviously never played The Sims.

I think that birthdays are a very egotistical thing, and as such I don't agree with them. It is nice to get free shit, but the concept that you are so awesome that people give you presents and their time just because you were born is stupid. I mean, you weren't even born recently. That was forever ago. Society should reward people more based on what they have done, and less on just existing. It's like in school; only in the "special" classes do they reward you for showing up. Make us earn our free shit (I know, I know, then it isn't truly free) and the world will be better for it.

But before we revolutionize the giving out of free shit, give me some free shit.
