Who: Sam and Rose (MAYBE DEAN IF HE ISN'T TOO BUSY LOOKING FOR A CAR IN THE BUSHES) When: Evening Where: Various places TL;DR: Sam feels bad for blowing her off to deal with his brother and goes to find her for an actual conversation

She could still hear Sam's voice. Rose had intentionally closed the journal, cutting Sam and Dean off. The brothers seemed nice enough, but she had better things to do than listen to their squabbling. She had grown tired of being the building's welcome wagon. It was time to get back on track. Rose Tyler was going to escape, find The Doctor, and- she could still hear Sam's voice! The blonde tilted her head down toward her journal. Were they still connected? No, no, he was calling Rose's name from somewhere else. Getting louder, a bit muffled... "The hall!" she declared aloud
( ... )
Sam stopped short when the door opened, opening and closing his mouth a few times before giving a sheepish shrug.
"Uhm, yeah, actually. I'm sorry about that."
He raked his fingers through his hair while speaking. A bad habit.
"Don't get me wrong, Dean is great, but he has this...issue with privacy."
Which went so much further that Rose would ever understand. He was used to spending almost every waking moment with his brother, usually never more than a few feet away in the case of the car of motels they lived out of, but Sam still tried to preserve his personal space bubble. Yes, It usually failed, but he still tried.
It was cruel, and Rose knew it was, but she liked when she made them speechless. "Ya should be," she continued. "All I was tryin' to do was 'elp ya!"
Rose liked his hair. Sam had a certain boyishness about him, despite being so tall. Barely, just barely, it reminded her of-
Rose exhaled through her pursed lips, pushing away thoughts of The Doctor. Focusing on her little game, she crossed her arms over her chest. "If I say I forgive ya, is your brother gonna jump out and ruin it again?"
Of course he had no idea that Dean was stalking him like some kind of unreliable teenager, but he wouldn't be surprised. The trust issues between them were a mile wide.
"Thanks for your help, though. No one's really made any sense so far."
Rose wants Dean assuming the worst RIGHT AWAY 8DiwantyousafeMay 24 2010, 04:21:21 UTC
"...Sounds like he ain't far behind," Rose concluded. It didn't take a genius to figure out a pair of brothers. Dean seemed to like conversation-crashing an awful lot, and Rose didn't find Sam reassuring in the least "You're welcome. In ya go, then!" she exclaimed with a wink.
Grabbing his sleeve, Rose pulled Sam into her room and shut the door. For a while, Sam's shadow Dean would be caught on the other side. She needed at least a few minutes of separation. Sam had been secretive about himself. There was clearly something there to discover.

A small "Woah-" slipped out as she grabbed him into her room and shut the door. He hadn't expected and it, and Sam needed a second to settle down.
Rose seemed nice enough. She was straight forward and clear cut, two qualities Sam appreciated but rarely found in women. He also knew he should be wary around her, but after speaking once and again face to face, he was beginning to seriously doubt she was the mastermind.
"Uhm- I was hoping maybe you'd tell me a little bit more about this place. The people here.."

Rose couldn't keep up the act anymore. She wasn't actually cross, after all, and Sam seemed genuinely curious. Her stern face cracked, giving way to an amused smile. "Sit down, will ya?" she chuckled. She took a moment to listen for noise in the hallway, then tossed her whole self into one of the large, carved chairs. The furniture wasn't bad, really.
"This place," she parroted. "Well, there ain't much to tell. I was taken from my job a bit ago- no explanation. I thought I'd caused it, but that ended up bein' wrong. I was in a town with lots o' people in the same situation. Then, things shifted again. I ended up 'ere. Frustratin', really... just when I was figurin' it all out!"
He had asked about the people, so Rose continued. "The folks 'ere are all from different worlds and times. I've tried to find connections between 'em, but so far, nothin'. There's, ah, a bloke with a dog, a Commodore from centuries-ago England- he's amazin'- a boy who LOVES his mum..." she was coming up empty. "I can see why I'd be here,

The younger Winchester took a moment to mull it all over, looking for some kind of pattern while he filed the information. But- yeah, he had nothing.
Okay then, let's go back to the start. There had to be something that linked them all together. Some kind of link, even if it was at the lowest common denominator. Sure weird things happened to him all the time, but to anyone else? Wait... Did she just validate her place in the hotel?
"Rose, why would you be here?" A pause, "Does it have to do with the time travel?"
Another thing he was interested in. Living the kind of life he had, it was within reason, but he hadn't ever met someone who could confirm the phenomena. Maybe that was it. Maybe the weird was the link. and if that was the case, then it left a bigger question. Why?
The details... without the details...iwantyousafeMay 24 2010, 19:51:32 UTC
Rose hadn't even realized what she said. Shaking her head to gather herself, she explained.
"Oh, well, ya see, I work for an Institute," she kept the name Torchwood to herself. "We were buildin' this machine." Rose wondered how crazy she sounded. She backtracked a bit, dark eyes moving to the floor. "I've been missin' someone- someone very important- and the only way I can ever see 'im again is to finish the thing." The gravity of her search for The Doctor was likely written all over her face. At times, even she felt it was futile, so why tell someone else about it? The blonde grinned at Sam. Maybe the brightness of her teeth could mask the rest
( ... )
"Not at all." He'd done stranger things for the same reason. Starting the Apocalypse trumped screwing with a time machine.
An old pro at hiding the hurt, Sam saw what she was doing, but didn't push her on the matter. He was currently ignoring his own elephant in the room, and while he'd listen if Rose wanted to get it off her chest, he wasn't going to try and dig it out of her.
"Was there an explosion?" He finally asked, thinking back to the last few seconds before he had disappeared.
It's a good thing she sleeps alone... ZZZZ!iwantyousafeMay 25 2010, 03:07:32 UTC
Relieved for a number of reasons, Rose leaned back into her chair. Sam didn't doubt her. Sam didn't pry. Sam... was nice.
"No explosion," she said. Well, unless she had slept through one. The evening of her 'disappearance,' Rose had been working alone on the Dimension Cannon. It hadn't been unusual for her to research alien technology through the night and into the morning. She had been relentless. It never mattered if the Torchwood team was there or not. To her, every hour spent was an hour closer to reaching The Doctor.
"I, uh, I fell asleep in my computer chair," she admitted with a hint of embarrassment. "The buzzin' and whirrin', it's kinda this lull, and then..." Rose slumped forward, mimicking sleep.
After a couple of fake snores, she opened an eye toward Sam. Her tongue poked through her teeth. "Woke up somewhere else. Riveting, yea?"
He laughed lightly and dragged a hand through his hair, glad to see someone as animated as Rose. It was a nice change from his daily gloom and doom.
As funny and sweet as she was, her story didn't match his, which meant there wasn't a pattern. So much for that theory. Sam shifted slightly in the seat he had claimed for the time being.
"But your machine can open time, right. Like a portal.. or a gate."
Now there might be something there...
"I was talking to this other girl earlier and she said she was in a Hell Gate right before showing up here. Dean and I were in something similar. Maybe that's how whoever is running this thing is doing it."

"It's complicated," Rose said. "The guy I'm lookin' for, 'e's called The Doctor. 'e's... amazin'. All of time and space..."
Involuntarily, she drifted off for a moment. Instead of focusing on Sam's eyes, the blonde was staring at some inconsequential point above his head. She had been avoiding talking about her situation for a reason. It tended to make her stupid.Reality returned quickly. "Back home, what we're workin' on, it sorta jumps between realities." Her nose crinkled a bit as she tried to find simpler terms. "It's like movin' sideways instead of forwards or backwards, ya know

Ah sorry! I had a few super busy days! :ofamily_remainsMay 28 2010, 20:03:18 UTC
"Yeah, actually," Sam answered, digging into his jacket's pocket and drawing out one similar to her's. "I think it's for some kind of nurse' station."
In fact, He and Dean had spent the last few days doing nothing but find out what their keys opened. They had initially tried to pick most of the locks, but after more than a few failed attempts they concluded that some kind of magic was sealing the doors.
And as hunger set in, they really did have to figure it out. Not that either of them had the key to the kitchen, but they had found the latch caught by some act of mercy.
So figuring out who had the keys to what was another thing on the priority list. And all the more reason to try and get everyone together.
"It has to open something, right?" A stupid question maybe, she had been there for a while and it seemed like a place that would screw with you like that. In fact, he was pretty sure this was a place that screwed with you.
No problem! In your absence, I located a Sam/Rose ICON!! 8DiwantyousafeMay 28 2010, 23:36:17 UTC
"Nurse Sammy!" Rose giggled mercilessly.
"Honestly, though, that could be good. The longer we're stuck 'ere, the more likely someone will need medical 'elp." The thought was actually scary. Rose hadn't considered the long term. Time was passing. It was probably right to get serious. As for her key...
"I've been about everywhere in the 'ouse," she said. It only took a moment, though, for her facial expression to morph from defeat to revelation. "Everywhere in the 'ouse! I 'aven't looked outside yet!" It gave her a bit of hope.
"That's it, then. I think we can both agree that we 'ave'ta get the lot together, yea?" It was necessary not just for escape, but for survival. Arranging it wouldn't be difficult. They already had means of communication. "It'll be a party," Rose smirked. "Lots o' interestin' people, things to talk about..."
She was becoming re-motivated by the second. Crossing the room, the girl placed a hand on Sam's shoulder. "You 'n me, eh? We could fix this."
Sam listened with interest as she worked out where her key might belong, only piping up to note that Dean's key opened the shed out behind the house.
And then again on the subject of a house meeting. "We should find out what people know. Start finding out what we have in common."
Sam smiled lightly when she touched him, but only after the initial shock. He tensed at first, but managed to relax into the touch. Now, he was pretty used to getting punched, but little kind gestures were few and far between. Not that he minded but, he definitely wasn't accustomed.
It was only then that he heard Dean startle from the other side of the door. Sam's attention snapped from Rose to the partition, and he stood with furrowed brows.
["Holy mother of crap! What the hell was that?!"]"Dean
