Cordelia winced and writhed with pain as she experienced the rest of the vision. By the time Doyle arrived, it was just ending. Her pretty body had gone limp on the floor, chest heaving with gasps for air. The visions were none too friendly on anyone, certainly not the completely human brain Cordelia had. It was a shame she couldn't enjoy seeing Doyle as he came to her side, the pain still searing through her skull.
"Yeah, one of those skull splitting migraines you might remember?" she asked, coughing a little.
Cordy pulled herself into Doyle's lap, needing a moment before she was ready to sit up fully.
"So it worked," he commented to himself. He didn't even know if the transfer would have worked. "Guess that's why I haven't had any, was wondering about that." Doyle felt horrible about giving them to her, especially now. At the time it was a desperate act, one to ensure that Angel would stay on the right path. Now, he wished he could take it back and carry the burden once again.
"Yeah, I remember, all to well." He shook his head at the thought of the pain.
Out of instinct he pulled an arm around her, it was really just a comforting thing, though it was something he wanted to do to her. Usually, he'd be too scared, but not in this moment for some reason.
"It was really super duper creepy, like creepier than normal and that's saying something. A floating skeleton kind of thing, with armed two large scythes."
Cordelia shivered, pulling Doyle's arm closer when she thought about it.
"I think it was tonight, late. The thing was creeping around outside by the gardens, and it is not friendly," she describes. It would seem Cordelia had gotten pretty good at interpreting the visions once they'd come. "We still have time, where's Angel?"
Knowing the two were together, she had expected both of them to show so they could go into the fight prepared. There was time, as she'd mentioned, but hopefully Angel came on hand before night fell. Sitting up, desperate to grab some of the remaining aspirin that had traveled with her in her purse, Cordelia fumbled for the nightstand.
"Creepier than normal sounds really creepy." Doyle was being a bit sarcastic, but deep down he was serious. He couldn't help but always poke some fun at Cordy.
"Doesn't sound good at all." Hey, maybe this was why they were here. "I don't know, he went to do some stuff, I was waiting for him to come back. I left him a note." Doyle hoped that Angel would show up soon. Not that he wouldn't face the monster with just Cordy, he just knew that they'd have a better chance with Angel and he'd feel a bit more confident in the matter.
Doyle straightened himself up some when Cordelia sat up. It finally hit him that she was in his arms and actually seemed to like it?
"Well, not always. But it might be nice having a fresh start, yeah? That's what my life in L.A. has been and I think it's worked out pretty well."
Back home, Cordelia had her apartment, her job, the mission to do good. It may not have been the life she ever planned for but it was one that was better than she could have expected at least. And here? Well things were slowly improving in some ways, and she was willing to take the little, or not so little, things.
Relaxing some, she resolved to make the most of next few hours. She'd had little enjoyment since arriving at the mansion but this was good start. Swinging her legs some, she watched Doyle as he sat beside her. It was almost surreal in a way.
"Always love a fresh start. Nice sort of thing in this world of ours." As strange as it might be at first, he did want to get back to the real world as soon as he could.
"So, what do we do now? I know normally we'd be doing our research and getting the weapons ready. Seems like all we can do in this place is wait."
"Waiting is all we can do. At least until Angel gets here. I don't want to put anyone else in the house at risk, you know?"
Cordelia didn't really mind the lull in action though. Though Doyle hadn't experienced the lapse in time she certainly had. Avoiding collateral damage was an important part of figuring out her visions quickly. Keeping to themselves until the evening was probably the best idea anyhow.
"You know, if you don't have better company you'd rather be in," she teased.
"Yeah, waiting. Feel like I've been doing a lot of that lately." Doyle was waiting to get out of this place and go back to the real world.
"Oh, so I'm not good enough company for you to want to go out?" Doyle smirked. He knew that she was just teasing and he was about ready to tease back. "Guess we need to get Angel here fast."
