FEELING LIKE A BADASS

Oct 18, 2009 01:13

So, I ran my first 5K today and had a pretty awesome time!
It was the Cincinnati Running Scared 5k, held in Reading, Ohio. The last race I'd run in was during High School, and there I placed 7 out of 8 on the 800 meter run. Given that, I'm really happy with the results I got emailed to me after:

Congratulations on finishing our event. Your results are listed below.
TIME: 24:57
PLACE: 27 / 176
PACE: 8:02
PLACE IN DIVISION: 3 / 9
GENDER: M
PLACE IN GENDER: 21 / 70

Admittedly, the time could use some work but DAAAAAAAAMN. 27th out of ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-SIX?! That's a lot of people to run past!

Seeing those results made me feel very happy. Also, they made me feel like (you guessed it!) A BADASS. It was an incredible, incredible feeling that totally validated all my training to date. I didn't get to take many photos there since the camera was dying, but the few I did

THE DETERMINATION TO FINISH. Also no, I don't have any idea why that girl is going in the opposite direction.

Aaaand that's it! The after party was great, and it was good to have some live music and friends to share it all with. I really do wish I had more friends who were into that sort of thing but you can't win 'em all, I suppose.

Ah well, I'm just happy I was able to do something new and exciting today, and also that I got to kick some MAJOR ASS.
