OVERWHELMED BY WORLD EVENTS

I don't often blog about politics for the reason I often don't usually have strong opinions, even though certain world events do move me quite a bit.  Here's a round up of recent issues I've read that I feel very strongly about.

- Israel/Lebanon: I don't agree with the total war on Lebanon, although I do understand Israel's fear about Hezbollah and what would happen if they were let to continue unchecked.  At the same time, I don't see how bombing Lebanon to the degree Israel is doing will make this better for the region.  It's like to breed a new generation of hate in Lebanon as children watch their world fall apart just after all the hard years of trying to rebuild the country.  Yes, Hezbollah is using the civilians as shields and yet... they're succeeding, if it's their mission to make the Lebanese hate Israel.  Links of interest:

- Congo & Children: Every two minutes, a child dies.  That's a sobering number.  1,250 die each day from the war that should be over.  Most of the deaths are preventable which is what makes me really sad.  I would advise looking at the media.  Link of interest: Chaos Steals Congo's Young

- Bangladesh & Acid Attacks: If you think fists are bad, then acid is hell.  I think it's horrible that these attacks are mostly targeted at women because they've rejected the men as suitors.  Or some other reason.  Either way, it's really sad and it makes me glad I'm born in a country where women do have rights.  Link of interest: Bangladesh's Acid Attacks

In other news... my computer is fixed, so yay.
