(no subject)
That cat brought in another bird. I found him under my bed happily chewing and playing with it - feathers flying everywhere. I threw him out on his ear and he's not coming back in for a while.
I've lost count how many bird he's dragged into the house. And the best place to devour them seems to be under the bed. As long as it's not on it... You'd think what with it being winter and him having a loud bell around his neck that it'd be slim pickins'. Clearly he's got skillz.
I threw a birthday party last night. Had some people over, got nice presents, made mojitos, had a nice time. There will be no drama this year, no age complex. My actual birthday is tomorrow and I have plans to go to the movies. I realize going to the movies is an everyday occurrence for most people but for me it's almost like Christmas. I think the last movie I saw in theater was Inception. It'll probably be Harry Potter. Or Social Network. Doesn't really matter - the novelty alone is almost enough.
Oh wait, I saw two Icelandic movies in September. But that was for the magazine so it doesn't really count does it?
Anyway - I'm rambling today - need to kick my ass into gear and continue this essay rewrite. The teachers of our editing course want us to rewrite an old essay and write a report on the rewrite; how we used the techniques learned during the course. Not a bad idea actually. I chose a 15 year old essay I wrote during my second year at collage about "Inanna's decent into the Underworld". Boy did it ever need a rewrite. Makes me realize how much I've grown as a writer these past 15 years. I would never write like this today. And I'm developing a real fascination with the ancient civilization of Sumer and all the different religions influencing each other (incl. Judaism and, eventually, Christianity). I'm increasingly more mystified how anybody can pretend their religion is based on divine words from above.
