Stolen from a few places!

1. What did you do in 2017 that you'd never done before?

GIVE BIRTH!
Travel to America
Work on a live television programme
Buy a car worth more than £500

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I don’t recall making any beyond having a successful pregnancy, and staying healthy while pregnant. I did both! I walked almost 10 miles a day 5 days a week throughout, and swam 1-2k at least twice a week until two days before I gave birth.

2018 resolutions are to get back to that level of fitness now I’ve healed from my labour, and to be the best possible mother I can be to my boy.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

ME.

Plus all my wonderful new mum friends.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

Thankfully not.

5. What countries did you visit?

USA! USA!

6. What would you like to have in 2018 that you lacked in 2017?

SLEEEEEEEEEEP. Pregnancy insomnia started in early January 2017, and I seem to have made a boy who can’t stay asleep for more than 45 minutes at a time. I’m bloody knackered! I truly can’t remember the last full, unbroken night of sleep I had.

7. What date from 2017 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

13th August 2017 is a date that will always have huge significance to me now. It’s the day I became a mother.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Becoming a Mum. Not losing my mind from sleep deprivation. Making the best of a truly shitty situation at work & standing up for myself much, much more in all areas of my life.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Letting myself get taken advantage of by managers at work.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Norivus in March which was scary as I was pregnant.

Losing 2 litres of blood post birth & needing emergency surgery.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

House stuff. All my amazing baby bargains. And our super cheap holiday to New York!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Jeff. I had concerns that he was going to get on my nerves during the labour as he doesn’t take things too seriously. I was worried he’d be making jokes and winding me up. But he was wonderful. I can’t fault a single thing he did from the moment I called him to say I needed to get to hospital. And for being a fabulous dad to Travis ever since he was born.

My parents, for being incredible support during the tough moments as I adjust to being a Mum.

Travis, for being the best little boy ever, even though he doesn’t sleep!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

The guy who did our central heating and tried to rip us off by several hundred pounds, then called me a bad person for calling him out on it. He knew I was pregnant and still put me through a lot of unnecessary stress for his own gain.

14. Where did most of your money go?

The house. Not just the mortgage, but also turning it from bland house to a home that reflects who Jeff & I are. It’s colourful, packed with tat & cosy now and I love it!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Growing and meeting my baby. Homemaking. Travelling to New York. Maternity leave!

16. What song will always remind you of 2017?

Sign of the Times by Harry Styles. Not because I like it (I don’t) but because it was every where!

It Wasn’t Me by Shaggy as I was dancing around to it the day before I gave birth, and it’s the last song I properly remember hearing before it all started.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Happier or sadder? Happier.
Fatter or thinner? Fatter, by about 1st. Post birth complications have made it difficult for me to do any exercise beyond walking, and breastfeeding makes you hungry!
Richer or poorer? Richer. We sold the flat in January and made enough profit to take a nice holiday and the maximum amount of time off with Travis.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Sleeping. I’ll never take it for granted again!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Fretting about work. Buying stuff I didn’t need. Letting people get under my skin.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

With my lovely little family. It’s a year of making new traditions! As usual we’ll be staying in and having a quiet one, with a visit from my parents at some point. But we also have Travis now, so it’ll be very different!

21. Did you fall in love in 2017?

Yep. Travis Leo Tyldesley will live in my heart forever now.

22. How many one-night stands?

Zero.

23. What was your favourite TV program?

Channel 4 News as always. Game of Thrones!

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nah. A few people have pissed me off, but not to hate levels.

25. What was the best book you read?

Good Cop Bad War by Neil Woods. It was brilliant.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

MARTHA <3

27. What did you want and get?

A healthy, happy baby.

28. What did you want and not get?

Recognition at work.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

La La Land. I watched it in a cinema in Times Square in our last day in New York which made it extra special.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Haaaaaaa. I woke up in hospital to my first full day as a mother. I was stuck in bed due to having a catheter in for most of the day. I didn’t leave the ward or see daylight. I gazed at the little person I made. Jeff spent the day by my bedside, and my parents visited in the evening. I spent the night in a state of exhaustion in hospital as I was recovering from my operation, and Travis was cluster feeding like a demon to bring my milk in.

I turned 33.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Better work life balance and nicer management. More sleep!

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2017?

“The baby sick isn’t too visible on this so I can definitely wear it again” chic.

33. What kept you sane?

Jeff, Travis, my mum. My wonderful online August Mum friends.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Ted Levine, Cathy Newman.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

Europe’s treatment of refugees from the Middle East continues to break my heart.

36. Who did you miss?

My Nan. She’d have loved Travis.

37. Who was the best new person you met?

Travis Leo Tyldesley.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2017:

You are always stronger and capable of more than you can imagine.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Hey baby baby! Baby baby!

family, travis, jeff
