Forcing a women to give birth against her will is involuntary servitude, which in the U.S. violates the 13th Amendment. Since you keep insisting this is about slavery, I thought I'd actually bring up the PEOPLE in the argument.
Oh, wait, I forgot - to human beings like yourself, a woman is not a person once she has a sperm in just the right place inside her. Actually, from your attitude, I'd say that a BORN female human being isn't a person at all in your eyes.
The moment you are pregnant, feel free to choose what you want to do about it with the support and advice of your doctor. I'll do the same. Your rights end where my body begins. Your right to an OPINION ends where my body begins.
Do what you like with your life, but keep your false notions about what is and is not a person away from every uterus on the planet. You don't get to decide that I should be FORCED to do something that could kill me. You don't get to legislate my body. You don't get to say that something that is 100% dependent upon MY BODY for survival has greater rights than I do.
You don't get to speak unless YOU are physically pregnant and it's about the fetus in YOUR uterus with YOUR doctor.
Finally, I understand that you identify as male (if that is incorrect, please let me know), which means that unless the uterus in question is actually IN YOUR BODY, you don't get to speak about what's inside of it.
Your voice doesn't get to be heard unless YOU are physically pregnant. Not your girlfriend, not your wife, ONLY YOU.
This issue isn't about you. For that matter, it isn't about me - UNTIL AND UNLESS I get pregnant.
Which, thanks to people such as yourself, I'm afraid to do. Because I'm high-risk and therefore MUCH more likely to be in the situation of needing to terminate a WANTED pregnancy because otherwise it might KILL ME.
To you, my life, my wants, my needs, my health - none of those are important. I'm not a person in your eyes. I'm just a walking potential incubator for a potential person. And if the potential person tries to kill me, their life is more important than mine. Their rights trump mine.
Forcing women to give birth against their will is horrific to me.
To me as well. The thought of being pregnant is a joyful one to me. The thought of being pregnant against my will is akin to being trapped in a windowless room with no hope of escape.
Pro-lifers speak of ethics and morality but there is nothing moral about coercing a woman to carry a pregnancy to term when it can endanger her own life.
Exactly this. Even a so-called "normal" pregnancy can endanger a woman's life. And here in the U.S. (where the majority of the anti-choice people coming out in this thread reside), we have a shamefully high maternal mortality rate for being a supposedly "developed" country, :(.
