ok pregnancy isn't a disease...so what exactly needs to be cured? sexually transmitted disease has rocketed with sex "education" and birth control, which isn't even 100% guaranteed anyway

why do you think this is the appropriate place or time for this?

pp does many, many other things besides abortions. it is important for women to have access to affordable healthcare, and pp does that.

Why do you think it's not? LJ is using their soapbox to advocate for something many people seem to be horrific. I think it's ok if people register their displeasure.

providing access to affordable healthcare for the poor is horrific?

Abortion is not "affordable healthcare." Do you wish to discuss, or are you going to throw out particularly poorly-built strawmen? Just let me know so I can ignore you if you're going to play dumb.

abortion is a healthcare service. pp provides affordable healthcare for poor women. whether you agree with it or not is not relevant, because people should have access to affordable healthcare.

if you don't want to donate, that is your decision. it's nice to have choices.

Abortion is a healthcare service like slavery is an employee compensation package.

It's nice that PP provides other services, but you know... they still kill babies. Kinda hard to get over that one. I'm sure there are other healthcare organizations (for men and women) I can donate to without their also offering infanticide.

But they don't kill babies. They remove clumps of cells.

Then again, since not everyone believes life begins at conception, or at birth, or whenever, maybe you need to STFD.

Ahh, the baby-murder lobby's only recourse - "STFD." You can't stand the heat, but you stay in the kitchen.

As for the silly "clumps of cells" claim, you are also just a clump of cells... but we would also think it unacceptable if you were "removed."

Yep, in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant like every good woman, of course.

I'm a breathing, thinking, choice making clump of cells. Sorry that a 6 week along fetus isn't.

For someone whining about other folks using strawmen, you should probably stop.

See, there you go again. It's almost Pavlovian for you, isn't it? Somehow, you can't see a world where "don't kill the baby" isn't equated with "barefoot and pregnant." It's really kind of sad that you hold women to such a dichotomy.

I'm afraid you're going to have to work on your strawman argument. You see, you may not agree with where I believe life starts, but to call it a strawman shows that you lack either understanding of what the term means, or any semblance of the ability to think outside your own worldview.

You didn't actually address the part of her comment where she pointed out that a fetus doesn't have the ability to think and reason, though.

Only the woman whose body is involved has the right to make the decision about abortion. Nobody else. There's no such thing as a banned abortion, just an unsafe one.
