Hmm... this looks tricky....

So I decided that I needed something crafty to do to stop myself from being incredibly bored and eating...  I've been shopping around trying to find a new linen set with comforter and everything for my new bed, as I have nothing that will fit it.  I figured out what I want and even better, it's something crafty to do!

I am going to make a quilt!  It's a really pretty pattern and I'm really excited to make it!

So I called my mom and started telling her about it.  She keeps saying "try something with large, simple squares first."  Now I asks ya, when have you all ever know me to start out with something easy?!  "Make a nice pillow out of the pattern first, and get an idea of how tedious and difficult it's going to be," says the Irish Mommy.  "Why?  It can't be that hard?!"

This is where I actually start to find out what is involved in quilting...

See, now I just thought that you stiched a whole bunch of triangle and squares together to make a block, and you repeated that block several times, and then stitched all the blocks together, added a border, put padding between the top of the quilt and the backing piece and sewed it up all nice and neat!  Sounds easy, right?  WRONG!

Yeah, well apparently, once you have completed all of the above, you then have to go in and HAND STITCH all the seams and whatever patterns you desire but go through all three layers so that it's all pretty and slightly poofy like a quilt is supposed to look like!

The problem is that I REALLY want that as my bedspread!!  I am so in love with it, and I can already imagine the happiness of sleeping in it, and dammit I'm already attached to it!  I won't really need a blanket that heavy until September or October anyway... so I guess I'm gonna learn me how to quilt!
