Rewatch Extra: 6x09 Tithonus

I really, really meant to do HTGSC. Before Christmas.
But that didn't happen, and this was the next episode on my season six "to watch" list. And I love it. So I watched it.

This teaser is actually really tense and suspenseful! And the office building is grimy, desolate, yellow, more like the old days.

The whining whirr of the camera starting up is so ( Read more... )

(Wasn't this around the time of HoM? Because she looks sort of Lily Bart-esque to me.)
Well, the earliest release date imdb lists is October of 2000, so I'm going to guess that they shot it the summer after season six, because shooting the summer after seven doesn't give them quite enough turn-around time for fall 2000. So yes, I agree! She does look kind of Lily Bart-esque.

and also covering up his very real fear that she could actually forget him and move on with his jokey, silly voice. It makes me want to hug him so badly!
I know! Seriously, just lovely, layered writing and acting.

I find the topic of when they fell in love/when they realized it/when they first slept together to be infinitely fascinating, which might say something sad about me. *g* Especially because maybe it's not something you can pinpoint exactly.
Like you, I will give a different answer on a different day! I think that Scully certainly is a bit smitten early on, but I wouldn't call it being in love, quite. But there's certainly something there. (If we're talking season two, hello, Little Green Men! And The Host!) And I think we're actually mostly on the same page, but saying "Agent Scully is currently in the process of realizing that she's been in love for a long time but hasn't allowed herself to think about it" just didn't have the same ring to it!

I was saying to Zellie above that I think, at the very least, season 6 gives us a Scully who is finally realizing that she's in love, realizing that it's okay that she's in love (which is big), and then finally allowing herself to fall without immediately putting up all of these emotional roadblocks. I think she has some big revelations around the Reduxes, but, as is her wont, she pretty much abandons them after her brief flirtatiousness in Detour. And yeah, I'd say that it's safe to say cancerarc for Mulder, too. Although he's always worn his heart on his sleeve, so I find it a bit easier to think about this for him. In a lot of ways, Scully's head and heart are still a complete mystery to me.

His tamped down fury is scary, not to mention sexy, like when he tells CSM that if Scully dies he will take him down.
Oh, man, I know! "I don't care whose father you are, I will put you down."

Ha, no, not quite the same, you're right. I guess the truth is that there was no one moment when they fell in love. It was such a long process for both of them, with lots of mixed signals, crossed wires and missteps along the way. It's so much fun trying to get into their pretty heads and see what's going on inside, though, isn't it? :-)

Absolutely. Because honestly, who can look at this cap and not see that this man is in deep? Those eyes! This is why I have never and will never understand noromos. What show were they watching? ;-)

To me, too. As much as I love her, I don't feel like I always understand her. Maybe because that kind of stoic, internalized emotions thing is so far removed form my whiny, gushy, silly self. *g* I've always found Scully's POV the hardest to write from, that's for sure. I don't think I want to say whose POV I've had an easy time writing from, because I fear you will de-friend me and that would make me sad. Hee!

I don't care whose father you are, I will put you down.

That scene may well be my favorite scene for Mulder, looks-wise, in the entire series. I don't know, it just does it for me! Something about the lighting makes his eyes, hair, skin, everything look SO gorgeous. This cap does not even slightly do it justice, but I know you know what I'm talking about. I always have to rewind and watch that part several times during "Redux II".
