I know! Oh, them. And their total lack of the concept of personal space.
And here, it's not just a little hand touch! She just stands there, holding on to him! Completely in public, while they're working, without looking awkward at all. And she's the one who initiates it!

I've always been of the school of thought that Mulder is very likely a trust fund baby (or the equivalent of it; take into account the amount of property his parents both had, and the quality and locations of it, and it's millions of dollars we're talking here), so I can totally buy him not caring when he gets disenchanted like this.
See, I've never quite been able to get on board with that because it just seems like an easy way for writers to do whatever they want without worrying about a pesky little thing like money. Of course, it does seem possible, but there's part of me that just wants to resist the fanon there. Also, (hey, more weird personal things!) I tend to get really irked by people who have never had to contemplate NOT having money, who have that freedom to do whatever because they'll always be financially okay.

Honestly, I know I'm the resident Mulder apologist, but I've always felt sorry for Mulder in this scene, not Scully. Fortunately, I've recently found out how not-alone in that I am, lol. At this point, he's practically begging her to believe him, and she's just standing there staring at him, essentially saying, "No. Quit being crazy, and we'll talk." It's a bit hard for me to watch.
Oh, I feel sad for both of them. And I think that, whatever her previous feelings were about the autopsy, she's not actually still concerned with that anymore. On one hand, I get her reluctance because she hasn't been equally involved in the case and hasn't seen everything he's seen. But on the other hand, it seems odd that she'd immediately just take as fact that he's gone crazy, doesn't it? But ultimately she DOES listen to him, so there's that.

Unfortunately, we're bearing down now on S6, which I think is where you and I -- for once -- really part company!
But! I'm picking and choosing my favorites! So I'm guessing we'll probably be on the same page. (Here's my list of possibles: Triangle, HTGSC, Tithonus, Monday, Arcadia, Milagro, The Unnatural, Field Trip.) But before S6: FTF!

Talk about a bold move there, Scully! I'm not sure how I never realized she was holding onto him that whole time, I'll have to pay more attention next time.

I think I can get away with that fanon because Mulder doesn't seem to really use those funds (which I do think it's logical to assume he has access to) to his advantage much at all. I think they're more like... emergency funds? (Sorry, fanwank ahoy here.) I can see him not wanting to use them for anything else, since most of his family's money is likely blood money, or something very similar. But he still has it! ...For trips to Antarctica and the like? Meanwhile, from day to day or even smaller emergencies, he's mainly dependent on his paycheck (as we see in Monday, for example). I can see that sort of odd mix being Mulder's type of life.

Yeah, at least she ultimately does listen. That scene is still tough for me to watch, though! I'm just like "SCULLY, just listen! He's in the PSYCH WARD."

Oh awesome, we are on the same page for the favorites (mostly)! *dances* Ohhh, I cannot wait to see your post on The Unnatural (my #3 episode)! :D

Hee! Everyone should have an emergency SnoCat fund!

I'm iffy on doing Milagro, but I feel like I'll probably do the rest of them. (I love the obvious scenes, and would have a ball making fun of Padgett's awful prose, but: can I sit through his creepy musings on her calves? Can I watch her getting wanton on his bed? Probably not.) I think I'm most excited for Field Trip.

And even though it'll be kind of a pain, because it's twice as long, I'm reallllly excited to do a post on FTF.

Emergency SnoCat fund! That's my new favorite way of putting it, lol.

I'm iffy on Milagro itself -- unsurprisingly, for the same reasons you are! -- so I can understand that. Field Trip though is just... gah, too awesome.

I'm excited for that too! FTF is ultimately so lacking in substance, yet I love it so.

I know, but I absolutely love it, too. And not even just the kissy-face parts! I really love almost every part of it. (Except maybe for the beginning. It was kind of a buzzkill in the theater, being all...um, Mulder and Scully? You're gonna be in this, right? Right? Why is this going on so long?) It's totally quotable and very pretty (I think meatfight once described it as being "shiny, literally") and they're both insanely gorgeous in it and it's just one of those things that I can watch at any time and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Yes, exactly! It's just... fun, from pretty much beginning to end, and yes, VERY shiny. We had a lot of fun hunting down some locations in L.A.; we drank at the bar where Mulder gets drunk and even scouted out (just by what it looked like!) the building they "blew up" (ironically, Universal was using it to shoot something at the same time). Good times!

*I'm iffy on doing Milagro*

But what about the "Agent Scully is already in love" part? That's a pretty good part.
