One time I watched "Bad Blood" and it made my terrible cramps go away. There is nothing this episode can't do.
Maybe that's what I need to do tonight! I'll try anything. (Also, I seriously needed this post. Sucktastic day, ahoy!)

Mulder losing his shit and taking it out on the trashcan is hilarious, especially because Scully barely reacts.
Haha God, I know. Someday I want to take my rage out on a trash can. This show gives me ridiculous life goals.

Aw, the subtext of this is that Scully just wants him to pay attention to her and treat her like she’s the center of his universe. Which she is.
Aww, them. Why does she not know this by now? WHY? OH, THEM.

Scully obviously thinks that all guys are turned on by long, scholarly lists. But what she doesn’t realize is it’s only Mulder, who proposed marriage two episodes earlier when she was rambling on about Santeria and hexes and witchcraft. So it’s cute that in her version of events, even yokel-y Hartwell thinks it’s hot. You know, I think people often think that Scully’s version of events is nearer the truth, but I’m pretty sure she’s as crazy as he is.
This is why I love you. Seriously. But I love that she expects "ordinary" men to be turned on by the same things Mulder is! They're both just so out there!

It’s kind of hot when he calls her that here.
YES. Because his voice is low and husky and he's like... stroking his neck. Damn. (How does she not leap across the desk right then? I ask you.)

“Have you noticed that this man’s shoes are untied?!”
Kills me. Every single time.

The time stamp correction from Davy Crockett Motor Court to Sam Houston Motor Lodge is brilliant. I’d absolutely love to read Gilligan’s actual script for this episode.
Oh God yes. I hope to find a copy someday. My Paper Hearts copy is currently my prize possession (in... terms of scripts, that is).

I know he probably stinks like trailer park mud, but come on! It’s Mulder! Next to you! On a bed with the magic fingers!
You know you want to, Scully!

His giggling is INSANE, and I love it.
Haha, YES. Totally inspires contagious laughter in our house, always.

This is one of those things that I like to pretend they turned into a cute inside joke. Because I'm a weirdo.
Then I'm a weirdo too. (Seriously though, this is the part that makes me DIE laughing. I have to pause it every time to get through it.)

It’s kinda hot when we really see their difference in height.
That is one of my favorite shots to use (other than the Ice neck check and the Memento Mori hug) to illustrate how hot the height difference is. This scene is mildly crackling, frankly.

And there’s a kernel of truth there, because after all, she really is the only one he wants/cares about convincing. Not to get all deep on you, but he probably thinks he has to work so hard in order to keep her from leaving.
Heh, I know. Mulder really doesn't have much confidence when it comes to Scully, does he? At least not in terms of the value of the work (and, tangentially, himself) to her. They're both so secretly insecure! GO MAKE OUT ALREADY.

Because oh my Lord. Duchovny does this horrified, teeth baring thing while Scully just keeps on swooning.
This is the point where I'm crying with laughter. It's such a quick little moment, but OH MY GOD, DYING.

He’s a little adorable when he’s jealous.
Agreed. That innocent little shrug kills me.

(Do you think he ever told Scully about that?)
At this point? Probably not. I do think though that by the time Scully comes around to discussing her past mistakes though (as much as I dislike "all things," at least it does include that conversation at the end), he must have.

“Oh, he’ll come.” Mulder manages to over dramatize in his own tale, making himself look silly.
That is such a Mulder-y thing to do. Good God, Vince Gilligan is brilliant.

He looks damn good in an undershirt, though, so she probably isn‘t complaining about his clothes on the floor.
Oh God, I know. What do they call that thing, a wifebeater? Who am I kidding, I don't give a damn, it's just hot.

It makes me think of the line from “Parabiosis” about Mulder “fish[ing] a green pepper out of the neck of his T-shirt.”
OMG, yes! I knew I couldn't be the only one who flashed on that!

Dude, his upper arms are delicious.
Mmm, yes they are. I also have inexplicably strong love for this shot (I think it's the angle, or the hair, or the lips... or perhaps those eyelashes). IDEK.

I can't not see the hand with the stake that reaches into frame as he breaks down the chair.
And I can't NOT laugh. I have to believe that was deliberate.

He chased him over “hill and dale.” Say what you will, but he’s kind of an awesome storyteller.
"I just gave myself chills!" Oh, Mulder. Come and tell me some bedtime stories?

“No, his throat was…bitten. It was sort of…gnawed on.”
Mitch Pileggi, ladies and gentlemen. His delivery of that line, coupled with the hilarious way he sort of... vaguely motions towards his neck... I lose my shit.

Vince, is there some way you can get Pileggi on “Breaking Bad”? Pretty, pretty please?
Oh my god, if that actually happened, I must suffer a mild joy explosion.

When Hartwell shows up again, and they’re able to check out his teeth, Scully taps at her own teeth while Mulder makes a face. I love things like this, because here it’s not about the everlasting love, it’s about them being best friends.
YES. YES, THIS.

He’s obviously feeling fairly confident by now about how he stacks up to Hartwell. Although if he were completely confident, he wouldn‘t feel the need to be so snarky. “You’re good.” He gives her this look, like: I’m better than him, and I have very nice teeth. And I’ll only bite if you say it’s okay.
Just one of the 8 million reasons why Mulder does it for me forever; even in his most confident state, he's still never 100% sure. Also, your assessment here? I just barked out a laugh like a seal.

“BACK!” The breadstick cross and Duchovny’s delivery are genius.
And his following look of "Oh shit, that's not going to work, and I must look like a complete MORON. Also, I might be about to DIE" totally seals it.

Possible favorite shot alert! Also, him accidentally honking the horn while checking his own neck? *dies of LOL*

This totally cheered me up. *loves you*

Edit: I had to go and watch the blooper from this episode with David and Luke Wilson, because it cracks me up. "I-I'm hearin' "Fartwell. You can read it right here..." "Don't make me read it!" David is practically sobbing laughing, it kills me.

Ha! I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only crazy one. "Fishing" is just the perfect verb to use.

I'm laughing right now, just thinking about it. I love Skinner in non-mytharc episodes, because he just exudes this feeling of: "My career was not supposed to be like this, guys. But oh well, I guess."

YES. YES, THIS.
It's like, yes, yes, longing looks and blah blah blah. But they're still together 15 years later because they like each other.

Yay, I'm so glad it cheered you up! But UGH, I went to go watch that blooper, because I love it, but the sound on my computer is...not working. THANKS A LOT, computer. I think I need to start doing my computer-shopping homework so I'm ready when this one finally dies.

Haha, I know. He just sort of grumbles and goes with the flow. He's such a cool, curmudgeonly boss!

Oh no! Well, if it starts working again, I hope you can find that one. I just love it so much. I always lose it when David laughs especially (which is why that one from Small Potatoes where he collapses on top of Darin, laughing hysterically, is another one of my favorites).

I am home sick today, and now I know what I'll be doing as soon as I get off LJ. Perhaps it'll cure my chest cold?

Awesome recap!

That's seriously one of my very favorite things, that Scully's able to act like she's a normal member of society, and she's the "straight man" who stands in for the audience, but underneath it, she's just as crazy as he is. I don't know why so many people think she's always, without fail, the voice of reason.

(How does she not leap across the desk right then? I ask you.)
I DO NOT KNOW.

Oh God yes. I hope to find a copy someday. My Paper Hearts copy is currently my prize possession (in... terms of scripts, that is).

No, I didn't mean at this point, just in general. Ha, we feel the same way about "all things," I think. I adore the final scene, for obvious reasons, but I really have no use for the rest of it.

Heh, yes, very true. She's just the "straight man" on the surface. ;) I don't know why so many people think that either; maybe because it's so easy to label them superficially?

It took me years to track down a copy of Paper Hearts, dude, I'm not gonna lie. My next goal is either a copy of Pusher, The Unnatural, or anything else classic by Vince or Darin.

Ha, we feel the same way about "all things," I think. I adore the final scene, for obvious reasons, but I really have no use for the rest of it.
This does not even surprise me anymore, braintwin! But yeah, the beginning is nice (aside from Scully's expression, which I really wish Chris hadn't been so rigid about; she almost looks pissed), I enjoy Mulder dancing like a dork in the office, and then the end. And that's it.

Where did you get it?

I don't know if this is just delusion from watching it so many times, but there's this split second where she almost smiles, just barely. Then again, I may be thoroughly crazy. It's a possibility!
