CCW ALBUM 2004-2005 REVIEW, impartially written by MOI. You think I'm joking, but really I'm not afraid to say we suck.
1. Salvator Mundi: You know, I always like it better when we do multiple peices by the same composer, or big peices like this, like the year Concert did the Britten. And while I didn't like this piece so much last year, I LOVE it now. We sound fabulous. Mr. Cotton and Mr. Bender sound fabulous. So proud.
2. O Holy Night: Well, we all know my feelings on Robert Tudor. Mostly that they are lustful and obsessive. And he sounds great. Too bad you can barely hear us. And when you can, compared to him, we sound about five. I'm sure the harmony would be gorgeous, if it were existent.
3. Ma Navu: Too bad I totally forgot we ever did this song.... Um? Terrible entrance. Decent the rest of the way through.
4. Mayim, Mayim: I love that little kid with the violin! He sounds so good. And so do we.
5. Sure On This Shining Night: Squeaky, but I love the song too much to hate it.
6. Christus Natus Hodie: I forgot how much I loved this song! It sounds great and reminds me so much of Christmas. Oh, it's so close, yet so far away.
7. Up! Good Christian Folk, and Listen: CHAMBER CHORUS SOUNDS INCREDIBLE. AND NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW HOW BAD WE REALLY WERE, BECAUSE THEY CUT DECK THE HALLS WITH THE FA!
And...
THE NIGHTENGALE!: Uggh. It makes me cringe to listen to. The balance is awful; the sopranos completely outweigh the altos. Raminsh's composing was beautiful, but we totally butchered it. Maybe it sounded better in person, but this recording is not good. We're also definitely off-tempo for half of the opera. Ugh. I'm so sad. It also means that wearing burlap was totally not worth it.
Most important, however, is the fact that Ms. G got a new picture, at the insistance of the chorus administration. It is no longer from the 80s, and she looks very nice. Thank you, and goodnight.
