A dear friend recently taught me to swim, so I've been practicing. [Stops to pat the water out of her ears.] There's nothing quite like it back in my world, but pools must be common where you are from.
There are a lot of different antibiotic creams and things you can use if it actually gets infected, but usually if you just make sure to wash out the insides of your ears after you're done swimming, you'll be fine. You could also try Q-tips, but don't push too hard or you could damage your eardrum.
[Her eyebrows rise at the mention of an ear infection; she's had those as a child and though medicine has undoubtedly advanced in leaps and bounds since her time, she is very reluctant to deal with one again.] Oh, I do hope this doesn't become serious.
[Swims on over and tilts her head a little, taking a look down into the canal of her ear like he's some sort of seasoned medical professional or something. Which, of course, he isn't.]
"Nah, it's fine. Just wash it out really well next time you take a shower. It'd be a shame if it got infected or something."
[Holds still, expression pleasant but bemused when he comes over to check out her ear. She can't help a giggle; it's sweet of him to be this concerned.] Thank you, Hachibe.

"Well... yeah! And, y'know, since you helped me out so much before, when I was hurt..."
