"That's the best baby I've ever dealt with" said the farrier after he filed Ellie's hooves.

Lita's farrier was supposed to come yesterday; he showed up today. Thank god I hadn't like left to go do the things I was going to do today (which all got shot to hell)

He put front shoes on her and wouldn't put her eggbars back on her hind; I understand his point of we don't want to hurt the foal, but it's been 3 months of no hind shoes on a horse that requires eggbars on her hind. So I can't push her in to harder work because of how her needs are with shoes until Ellie is weaned, but that's ok, I guess I wasn't planning on showing until next March anyway.

And then he looked at Ellie to see if she needed anything done, and just used the rasp a little to let her feel it. She stood incredibly quiet for a 6 week old. In fact, she picked up her feet when he asked, held them like he wanted, and had no fight about it. I was happy, especially since at 4 Wo still was a complete ass about picking her hooves, let alone shoeing. Then again, that's what happens when you pick a foal's hooves while you're holding mom after riding so she gets in the habit of letting me do it when she's older. :P
