Less than last year, and I didn't quite reach my goodreads goal (40). Still, 36 ain't bad! And I did it in a year that I read both Wolf Hall (which I forgot was in 2017) and mf'ing MOBY DICK. Was an interesting reading year for me in that I didn't wholeheartedly LOVE any books I read until November, when I read Sing, Unburied, Sing. So that gets my vote for favorite book of the year, for sure. Other highlights were Black Wave (which I liked so much more than I thought I would going in), Long Division, Marlena, The Pearl Thief, The Essex Serpent, and Autumn. Special shout out to ol' Moby Dick, which I honestly didn't love and really wish I had read in a more formal setting (so much went over my head!), but like... it was SO DANG WEIRD! why did no one tell me that going in?! I loved the weirdness, even though it was frustrating. And I'm so glad I'm done.

I didn't outright hate any books this year, which was a relief I guess. The coveted "Most Disappointing" goes to Boy, Snow, Bird, which is a shame because I really enjoyed White is for Witching a few years ago. Started out strong but by the end it was a hot mess. and a giant WTF at that ending reveal. Runner-up is Every Heart a Doorway. It was an entertaining, quick read, but I don't get the rave reviews at allll. Interesting concept and poor execution imo.

Not... a lot... I feel like this is an all-time low for me but what can you do. Top movies of the year were Get Out, Wonder Woman, Dunkirk, The Florida Project, and Lady Bird. hard to pick a favorite out of those 5 but Lady Bird might win, for me. As for worst movie, I didn't hate any of them but I guess Alien: Covenant was Not Great? still didn't hate it though. "Best Moviegoing Experience" goes to Your Name., because who doesn't like seeing gorgeous anime movies with a theater full of weebs, and a girl openly SOBBING next to you? (in a good way. she was incredibly invested in those crazy star-crossed kids.)

Anyway. So long, 2017. Here's hoping 2018 is miles better.
