Thought I'd better pull my finger out and to a MASSIVE (Unintentional Jungle-Drum'n'Bass refernce) update. But where to start ...
Ooh! Yeah, I've been diagnosed with clinical depression. So that's ... fun.
I was hoping to move down to
Brighton in
East-Sussex as my brother's going to
University there. I was going to move in with him providing I had a half decent job down there to help cover the costs of living. What seemed a simple idea of a transfer snowballed into what I affectionately term a "Cluster Fuck". So that's not going to be happening.
One of the reasons for me going down there was to up my training and join the
Zero Tolerance Fight Skool - a full time mixed martial arts gym run by
Sol Gilbert (who was really cool enough to help me out looking for places down there ... really appreciate that coming from someone I've never met!).
However regarding my training, I'm at a crossroads as I've become increasingly involved in the
local music scene and I'm getting a lot of satisfaction out of that as well. So it's Music Vs MMA for me at the moment, and there's no room to do both as fully as I would like to. More on that in another entry.
Really digging the new songs coming from
Doheny and
The Blueprint. The Blueprint release their album in October so that's something to look forward to.
However the main thing I'm looking forward to is the
pitchshifter DVD release shows coming up in less then 3 weeks! Got my final two tickets in the post today, so I'm all set to tour 7 days of Sex, Drugs, and Digital drum'n'bass breakbeat industrial punk hip-hop rock metal! Their
DVD "psientology" is looking awesome, I love that the band are doing it off their own backs so What You See Is What You Get with them.
My friend's "
Hindsight" are no more. That's because they're going national and there might be some legal problems using that name as there are other bands registered with it. So the band have renamed to "My Life In The Making", and Ken the singer registered the name, so they're all good to go. I wasn't sure about the name at first, but in the last couple of days I've grown to really like it. Their debut album is set for release in January and without bias I feel they are world class.
Skindred are tearing it up state side making many new fans. Sold over 4 thousand copies of the
re-re-release of Babylon which considering the bulk of their promotion comes from playing live, is pretty good in my opinion. They got a video for "Nobody" on FUSE TV apparently, but I've only seen it as a
Real Audio file. Looks really good and really plays up to their "Unity Sound" image.
Eli, the bassist from Ohio punkers "
MOTH" has been keeping contact with me through email. We seem to share some similar tastes and outlooks, and it's cool to have another person to get to know.
Speaking of MOTH, I'm really digging their self titled album, and even more so their song
I See Sound - it's really bouncy and catchy in the good way.
I know I've gone overboard on the linkage, but I think it helps gives more of an insight into my life. Check the links out, you might be pleasantly surprised! And anyone who reads this, just say hello or something. Doesn't take much (this coming from the guy who hasn't done anything with this journal for months).
It's coming up to 1am, I'm shattered. Lets try to make it less then 3 months before my next update!
