(no subject)
Well shit, Colony 5 is going to be touring the US! There better be a Los Angeles date or I will not be happy.
The Aerodrone show was really good. When I was running Dark Odyssey at The Haunt in Ithaca we did a Dismantled show just after the first Black-Sun so I told Gary that I was going to be at the LA show and reminded him about our Ithaca show a few years back. I came up to him at the Aerodrone show and it was just a slightly awkward, "Oh Hey, so you're the Ithaca guy." "Yeah" "Cool" and not really much else. I think he thought I was expecting a Dismantled kind of show because he told me that he's mostly doing the Aerodrone stuff and Dismantled's live show is kind of on hold. He's kind of a socially awkward human being, but then again, so am I. I told my Mom once that my cousin Jaime and I couldn't be friends because we're both socially awkward. She argued that Jaime is not an awkward human being and after about a minute or two I realized that she did not refute my statement that I'm an awkward human being.
I just had a moment of relief because I was worried about my Bolex attaching to the tripod I have from school. Back at Ithaca we had the Rex 4 models which have a baseplate that fits directly in to a standard bogen tripod. My Bolex is a Rex 3 which has a little round baseplate I guess because of the gun handle attachment it comes with. I wasn't sure how it was going to fit until I realized that the baseplate had a place to screw in another baseplate at the bottom and I happen to have hexagonal baseplate attachment for the video camera I'm currently using as well on this project. I'm hoping to shoot my new project this weekend.
Essentially I'm filming myself reading a poem and I'm doing this several times over and over with 3 different film stocks and hopefully a few different video cameras. Then I'm going to crop parts of my face and place them together. For those of you that are interested, I'm planning on using a Kodak Ektachrome 100D Color Reversal, a Kodak 64T Black & White Negative which I'm going to underexpose and then push process a stop or two, and either a Fuji 250D Color Negative or a Fuji 500T Color Negative (haven't decided on the last one yet, but one of my roommates has both left over from a previous project and I just have to decide which aesthetic I want to go for).
Two last random thoughts:
Chris, I want to see I, Parasite play, it's been too long for me and I'm interested in the new lineup.
Florida people: I have like one month of classes left so I'll be coming down for 2 or 3 weeks during like the 2nd or 3rd week in April. So Mary you can stop hating me during that time, and we should go rollerskating so I can get on my skates.
