Things I learned/movies I watched in the meantime:
Happy Feet: I cried. Mostly because the ending felt so unrealistic to me and it's depressing to feel like an ending like that could never happen in real life.
Pirates 3: I did enjoy it though I do wonder if my having spoiled myself kinda killed the effect of it. It felt like it was lacking a certain zazzz. And the big much advertised last half hour didn't do much for me from a pure action POV (dramatically it was of course very important). I have to say I'm almost hoping for them do at least one more part. It just felt ... unfinished in a way in that that some people didn't get a satisfying resolution. And/or not enough stuff was dedicated to their growth even if growth was presumed to have taken place (Jack...). That said, Elizabeth you lucky bitch. She really does get to kiss every guy. You rock, girl!
G.O.R.A.: G.O.R.A. is a Turkish SciFi comedy that parodies Star Wars and The Fifth Element with surprisingly great special effects and really enjoyable music. In my mine it could have been even funnier (though that's the feeling I get from a lot of parodies), but I did laugh reasonably often. And I learned that Turkish people have a really dirty sense of humor (then again, this kind of humor exists pretty much anywhere, from Kya Kool to Wayan brothers.
Lahme: Yepp. I can finally pride myself to having seen it. At first I was all "Yay, my first Sridevi film!". Then I remembered that I have seen Mr. India before. It was weird, I did enjoy it. But it almost felt, dare I say, too short? Which is an odd reaction when you come out of a 3hours+ movie. It reminded me of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke in a way, that you take a seriously over the top soapy scenario and use it to extract some great drama and confrontation moments (randomly, I really, really loved the end scene between the two main characters with the accusations between them. Cracked me up big time).
I guess it's true what they say about Sridevi, that she transforms for every role. In the first part of of the movie I kept thinking that she looked like Kajol from certain angles (must have been the eyebrows...), but in the second part of the movie I suddenly couldn't see it anymore.
I kept thinking that it would have made a neat Gothic horror/romance movie if it had just been told from her perspective. You know, she grows up in a big house with only an old nanny to keep her company, a mysterious caretaker comes once a year and refuses to see her, she becomes fascinated by him and vows to romance him ... and then finds out that he used to be in love with her mother. For me there was almost too much focus, too many excuses for Anil's POV.
