Winter is demoralizing.

Winter in NYC >:(

While complaining about work online is unprofessional and inadvisable, I doubt that I'm going to get in trouble for pointing out that at least two of the cold-water faucets in the main bathroom are purely ornamental.

I've encountered broken cold-water faucets in university or medical-complex bathrooms more often than one would expect. What up??

I wonder, if I had a balled-up piece of paper, if I could hit that pigeon in the back of the head.

Yes.

GOD EVERYBODY STOP SMOKING

Hah! Yeah, if there's more than one person smoking in my immediate vicinity, I start feeling icky. One smoker is kind of pushing it, actually.

There seems to be a certain look that all young professional women in New York have and I don't. Pin-straight hair and an ugly oversized bag seem to be part of that look. I rock neither.

I don't endorse that look either, although I tick both boxes (no leather bags; I've seen those and they are, if possible, even more ungainly). The professional look should accommodate people with other types of hair, too, like unstraightened hair. I have no attachment to my ugly oversized bags other than their practical use.

I looked up Xenu; thanks for the laugh.

I wonder if I'm constantly slouching because I'm taller than almost everyone I meet. On that note, I wish I could wear heels, but they'd make it even worse.

I don't know, but I can't wear heels for medical reasons; if you want to wear them you should!

My beef is with their employers, whom I would love to meet to scream at them about how their pushing for all of us to come buy things we don't need or remotely care about from their back-alley store, but also to give them what for for making these people do this. There can't possibly be that great a boost in business to be gained from making people stand in the biting cold or sweltering heat trying to get people to notice them.

These people are also never white. Don't think I don't notice that either.

Ding ding ding! To all of that.

I've tried to refrain from blogging about smokers, but living in New York has long since pushed me over the slippery slope and I'm well into the abyss of madness and strangely gratifying fantasies of physical violence beneath. Every damn day I'm breathing someone else's secondhand smoke. In my opinion, no human being should have smoke leaking from their mouth unless they are secretly a malfunctioning robot.
