Will and I saw Coraline on Thursday night. (OMG. SEE THIS MOVIE. NOW.) For some reason I can't figure out they decided to preface it with a preview for, of all things, Confessions of a Shopaholic, whose heroine appears to possess absolutely none of the spunk, resourcefulness, or critical thinking ability of Coraline herself. I have much unapologetic love for top-40s pop. I think Umbrella is such a sweet song.

On another note, did you not find that the plot changes in Coraline bothered you? I read a really elaborate review of it that made them seem rather tiresome from a feminist perspective.

I don't remember anything remotely antifeminist other then the Shopaholic trailer. What was it? Are you talking about the plot of the movie itself, or how the plot was altered from the book? Cause I never read the book.

I would love to see that review; do you have a link? I read the book many times, and while it wasn't without issues, I've been deciding whether or not to see the film and the Wikipedia summary of the adaptation seemed iffy in that respect.
