Mid-Victorian Questions
Firstly, what kind of chemise was worn under an 1860s ballgown bodice? There doesn't seem to be any way for me to wear my current chemise with my off-the shoulder ballgown bodice. Also, I'm really thinking about making a new bonnet for the Victorian weekend this month, and I've especially fallen in love with the drawn bonnets, but I'm having a hard time finding much info on how to make them online. Is there any sort of structure in them other than the wire or cane that the fabric is gathered over?
PS - Someone remind me never to make fully lined bodices again. They are soo much harder to take in than flatlined bodices!
