2015 Recap

Dec 31, 2015 20:36

Hmm, just off the top of my head, I certainly haven't done much since CoCo. Maybe going through everything, I'll realize I was actually productive this year?

These were my goals:
1. 1831 Archery dress Done!
2. 1829 Orange ballgown Done!
3. Corded petticoat to go with both of the above dresses Done!
4. 1830s bathing suit Done!
5. Professor Trelawney artistic reform gown for the CosCol Ice Cream Social This got switched to the green and cream bustle gown
6. Daniel Deronda riding habit (already have the fabric) Still have the fabric. Maybe I'll actually make it this year?
7. Little Red costume from Into the Woods Done!
8. Striped silk bustle gown. (Or maybe a sack-back. I found silk at Hancocks today for $8/yd, and I'm determined to not let it sit in the stash.) Yeah... That silk is sitting in the stash...
9. Handsewn 1860s gown. At this point, I'm still determined to do this fully handsewn, so who knows when/if I'll ever finish it. If I let myself do it by machine, I'm sure I would have finished it months ago... Still on the list. I just haven't had the time/patience for that much hand-sewing.

1831 Archery dress, which is still one of my favorite things I've made. The project included bodice, skirt, big feathery hat, belt, painting a pair of Fugawees, a giant tassle, and a quick and dirty reticule.

1829 Orange ballgown. It was a crazy project, but I'm not sure I'm entirely happy with it. At least I've already worn it twice! This project included the dress, a crazy hairpiece, a reticule, dyeing a pair of flats from David's Bridal, and making a few bracelets.

For the two 1830s dresses, I also made a corded petticoat, and a flounced petticoat out of a bedskirt.

Little Red from Into the Woods, which included the dress (with hand-smocked bodice), and cape.

The cream and green bustle gown (day version). I love how this one turned out. It consists of the (slightly) trained green skirt, the fringed apron drape, the bodice, and a quick and dirty reticule.

I made new sleeves for my quite old Tudor doublet bodice (not pictured), and decorated a hat for 18th c. (shown in one of my favorite event photos from the year)

1831 Bathing suit, which consisted of sleeve puffs, bodice, skirt, bloomers, scarf, sash/belt, and weird hat. I hope I find a chance to wear this one again. It is so ridiculous that it's quite fun!

Regency chemisette, started at CoCo and finished at home.

Regency hard-bottomed reticule, made at CoCo.

1890s Walking dress. I'm looking forward to wearing this one again. It includes the bodice with the gigantically huge sleeves, skirt, sash, and decorating a hat.

Ballgown bodice for the cream and green bustle gown. I'll likely be wearing this one again for Port Townsend, unless I can miraculously make the black silk bustle ballgown I'm planning for the CoCo gala by then.

Rapunzel and Flynn for my boyfriend and I for Halloween at Disney World. That included all the embroidery on the Rapunzel skirt, plus bodice, and dyeing a pair of shoes. And I styled my own ginormous wig for Rapunzel. I still need to figure out how to store it, though!

Marabou-trimmed capelet and giant muff for the Laughing Moon pattern test.

Velvet embroidered regency reticule, also for a Laughing Moon pattern test.

1912 Dinner dress UFO. This was already mostly done, but I did have to finish the bodice, sleeves, waistband, and a hem.

Commissions: Completing a 1910s women's suit, remaking a Ren faire-style skirt (no pics of these two), giant yellow Belle ballgown of doom, Elsa skirt

Oh yeah, and I bought a house!

So overall, I guess that wasn't too bad. I definitely need to start sewing again soon if I'm going to be at all on track for CoCo though!
