I'm trying to ease myself back into sewing, so I made an embroidered reticule yesterday. The embroidery patterns were part of the pattern test for Laughing Moon, and the pattern itself I was given by Val. I used a velvet pillowcase I got on my local Buy Nothing group for the outer, and the lining is plaid poly taffeta I was given by Alison about four years ago (you may remember it from the skirt lining and trim for my 1950s Cinderella suit from 2013, but I still have a ton of it). The tearaway stabilizer, ribbon, and cotton thread I got from my stash. Total cost? $0!
It was nice to do a pretty quick project, though I did have to babysit my machine quite a bit during the stitchout, since the thread kept breaking. I think it is a combo of my machine needing to be serviced, and a really dense embroidery pattern, though I like how it turned out.
