Star Trek: Into Whiteness
I went to see Star Trek:Into Darkness today. I'd heard the spoilers, and knew it most likely involved a shameful whitewashing of an iconic POC from Star Trek: The Original Series. But I was in denial. I thought it would be like the 2009 reboot -- which I thought I was going to hate -- but ended up enjoying because I could buy into it because it was an alternate timeline. I'm a sucker for time-travel stories (hence my love of things like Doctor Who), so I thought I could rationalize the whitewashing because of the alternate reality.
But.... NO.... Just ... NO!!!!. I cannot rationalize what they've done.
I have to admit, ST:ID is a pretty good action flick, and I really wanted to like it.
But it's 'Star Trek' in name only, and I can't forgive JJ & co for *that*.
I'll have a longer detailed rant/review of ST:ID later (probably more than one).
