The two lawyers whose offices are on either side of me are working on a deal together. Though they are both M&A attorneys, they usually don't work together, so this is sort of rare. As I began typing this post, they were on the phone. With each other. And no one else. And the partner who sits on one side of me was talking on speakerphone (as he usually does), so I could hear the entire conversation in stereo. Dilbert, anyone?
Also, within the past 24 hours, one of my favorite associates gave his notice (he's going to Treasury, lucky duck), and two of my legal assistants told me they were leaving. This does not bode well. The associate is a year or two ahead of me, and it's never a good thing when senior people leave, particularly not when you are one of the few lawyers with some experience who are still around. One could summarize this paragraph thusly: there's more high-level work that's going to be making its way down to my office in the near future, and fewer support staff here to filter work down to.
Shoot me now.
