Creation Entertainment's Salute to Supernatural was this past weekend at the LAX Marriot. I could bore you all with details of mine,
leadasiy and
tlcprovider's adventures in and around the hotel, including but not limited to:
Seeing much more of a male Jensen fan than anyone should have been able to. Let me just say that I have witnessed someone doing a thorough impression of "Pudding!!". Show fans will know what I'm talking about. ;)
Witnessing the total awkwardness that was Brock Kelly's panel.
Watching Traci Dinwiddie perform in an amazing drum circle and dance like someone born to it.
Hearing Jim Beaver speak Japanese like a native.
Hearing Misha Collins speak Russian like a native.
Hearing Jared speak with an Australian accent like a.....like an American doing a bad Australian accent.
Watching The Boys be awesome and charm every single person in the room. Well, except for that one chick who practically tore Jensen a new one because he's not attending the Jersey Convention. But, I'm not counting her.
Pictures! Most of the panels didn't come out that great due to our distance from the stage, but because Richard and Traci came down into the audience to answer questions I was able to get better shots of them. Enjoy. :)
See, I could bore you with those details, but no. Instead I'm going to bore you with my own encounter with Mr. Jensen Ackles. And his watch. *grin*
For those that know me, the next bit will really probably not come as a surprise. For those newish to the Land o' Lackey, lest you be warned. I'm a little weird. hee
So, we're in line for Jensen's photo ops on Sunday morning. We entered the photo room and, for those who haven't done this, you stand in line and get to watch others get there photo taken before you, we're watching the other peeps and checking out Jensen. Well, me being me, I noticed he's wearing a different watch than usual. And this watch is gorgeous! Even from afar. It's completely black and just...nnnf. I start thinking to myself, 'Deb, this is your chance. You're obviously still a bit sleepy, and can totally pull this off by not over thinking what you're doing. When you go up for your photo op, you're going to ask him what make that watch is'. I then go about psyching myself up to do just that.
When it's our turn, I walk up to him and this is what follows:
me: Morning. Excuse me, I have to ask. What is the make of your watch?
Jensen: *holding his arm up* It's a Perrelt Turbine.
**At this point I'm looking down at the watch and it's even more gorgeous up close. It has a spinning rotor under the hands that just wowed me**
me: That is a gorgeous watch! Hey, it moves! A beautiful piece.
**As we shift into photo positions**
Sis: She's a watch freak.
Jensen: *laughs*
**Photo is taken**
me: *turning to Jensen to say thank you*
Jensen: *bringing his arm up again* Did you know that it was Perrelt who invented the automatic winding watch?
me: *looking back down at watch* No, I didn't.
Jensen: Yeah, back in 1777. And they...blah, blah, blah...yada yada yada.
It is basically at this point when my brain decided to fully kick in to gear. It is very urgently letting me know that I am standing in the middle of a photo op talking to Jensen-freaking-Ackles about his oh, so awesome wristwatch. Not only talking to him, but I currently am holding on to his arm with one hand and the watch with the other. As I look up from the watch to his face and take in those beautiful green eyes and lovely voice and register that the hair on his arm is lightly tickling my fingers, my brain is informing me that if I don't get the hell out there in 0.2 seconds I am very likely to say or do something that would ruin this very nice moment forever.
I don't really remember how the conversation ended, but I recall once again saying thank you and then clearing the area.
Of course, when we leave the room, I totally can't remember what make he said the watch was. I spent a good portion of the morning trying to Google names that I thought he said, until I remembered that he had actually given a very important piece of information....the watchmaker had invented automatic winding. And then thanks to the Gods of Google, we have the Perrelt Turbine. Gorgeous, isn't it? You should see it in real life. ;)
A little addendum to this story. When I got to work this morning, I of course had to share this story and also mentioned the other watch that Jensen wears that I'm totally in love with. Not five minutes after my boss went into her office that I get an email from her with a link to the Panerai Luminor 1950. I gotta say, Jensen knows his watches, man. Another beautiful piece.
Well, that's it. Oh, and for those that are wondering...Jared didn't wear a watch this time around. ;)
