Trading cards. I try to resist them. I really do. I was able not to buy them when the Lost set came out. Well, I didn't buy the box. I may have a couple of smaller prepacked sets put away somewhere, but that's neither here nor there. I totally didn't get into the Lord of the Rings one. That would've totally eaten away at my soul.
My last fandoms that I bought cards were from The X-Files and Star Wars. Only half my soul was eaten. ;)
The biggest dilemma I have when I pick up a new sealed box is whether or not to open them. You see, an unopened sealed box of trading cards can be quite a collectible. It's pristine. It's treasured. It lasts two seconds after I get in the front door......
Yeah, that's right, we opened the box. Twenty-four packs of trading card goodness just laying there waiting to be opened and have their contents exposed for the world to see. It's a beautiful sight, isn't it?
So, the sis and I divvied up the packs and took turns opening them and oohing & aahing at what we had. After opening all the packs, we ended up with one complete base set, a second almost complete base set, several foil inserts and two flip cards...
We also managed to snag one of the coveted autograph cards! The vendor at the local collectibles show we had went to had a couple of autograph cards for sale. A couple of Zachary Quinto ($125 each), a Noah Gray-Cabey ($25) and one James Kyson Lee ($75). I think we made out pretty well, don't you?
I'm really lucky they don't have Green Day trading cards!
