Skipping over all politics and bad news from around the world, cos it's all been said elsewhere more articulately anyway:
There's been a huge outbreak of chattiness and friendliness locally, especially at school. This area had about the largest Remain vote in the country, but the fact that my IN sticker is still stuck to the fleece I fling on for windy school run days probably helps. One mum came over while we were waiting to cross the road, to thank me for giving her water once last summer when she felt faint and how she still remembers the kindness. I confessed that I remembered it because I'd then sipped from my other water bottle where the water had gone off and was worried that I might have given her bad water! And then we united over the bad design of certain crossroads and nervousness about letting our kids walk to school in a couple years' time (her eldest will be Y4 next year). Quatlet and Quatling have made new friends in the local park and I've ended up talking to their mothers. People i pass on the school run now nod hello and i nod to anyone. Its something good.
Quatling has got over her months-long sulk that her best friend since birth (Quatlet's best mate since preschool's little brother) has other friends than her, in particular boys who like football.
