Had to happen eventually.
Recently Amazon were selling all of Buffy for just over £50. Given the videos have no subtitles and I'm finding this puts my off watching, I discussed with Conflux and he agreed yes, let's upgrade to DVD.
Unfortunately by the time I got round to it Amazon had put the price back up to £120, which I figured was unreasonable. So looked elsewhere.
A quick Google for 'buffy dvd collection' gave oodles of online sellers, and the second one down, which was also the second sponsored link, was indeed selling the lot for £52. So apart from checking there was a https: padlock, and checking on Wikipedia that all box sets of all of Buffy do include English subtitles, I didn't think much before supplying my credit card details (thinking that if anything did go wrong, the credit card company were more likely to get my money back than the notoriously-inept PayPal).
Two weeks later, was getting a bit concerned, but this morning a package arrived. Chinese writing but lots of Parcelforce stickers.
It does indeed contain 39 DVDs, but the box claims Buffy is produced by the BBC, has various spelling mistakes, and generally isn't any of the legit editions. Going back to the site there's an 'About Us' page that waffles about how they are in Hong Kong and thus get you bargains but no fakes like recordings in a cinema, etc. Uh-huh.
Bah.
Guess I email them asking for my money back and to collect the item, and ask the credit card company for a refund. Hope they don't argue that I got what I ordered.
