Sorry for the length, but I'm using the Rich Text Editor for the first
time, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do an lj-cut
with this thing.
Okay, I just got tagged by
shade_shifter to do these. This is NOT going to be easy.
Name 10 celebrities that you find attractive and then tag 5 of your friends. (In order of preference with 1 being the most attractive):
Order of preference? I think not! But I'll try to get an approximation, anyway....
1) Colin Firth--maybe not the most handsome man in the world (although
he's bloody close.) But watch his eyes the next time you see him
in a role. There's always something going on there that's worth
watching for. Transparent eyes that are truly a window to his
soul. He's a thinking woman's sexy.
2) Eric Close--currently seen as Martin Fitzgerald on "Without a Trace,"
formerly the uber-sexy and very nice guy, despite being a former bounty
hunter with a price on his head, Vin Tanner, in the TV series based on
the old movie, "The Magnificent Seven."
Now, I admit that I'm currently all fangirl over this defunct series,
but the effect that Close has on my fluttering heart is all here and
now. A deep, slightly gravelly voice and a dimpled smile that
calls his beautiful eyes into play...::sigh::
Wish that Fitz could wear his hair like Vin Tanner did, though.
Love the long hair look on him, and I don't normally care for that at
all. Works for him.
3) Viggo Mortenson--Aragorn. Need I say more? Well, heck,
yeah--he's just plain great in any role he takes, and those speaking
eyes...::heavy sigh::
I'd give a lot to have him look at me the way he does Arwen--or even
the way he looks at that sword when it's presented by Elrond. Or
any other way. Just a chance to look into those eyes would be
worth about anything. (Is there a pattern here? I seem to
really be hung up on eyes. And it will continue, too....)
4) Russell Crowe--Yeah, he might be a bad boy (although marriage and
family seem to have mellowed him a bit.) He can be rude and
temperamental. But his work on screen is terrific--I especially
loved him in "Master and Commander." He IS a commander; any time he's on screen he has all my attention, anyway.
5)Sam Neill--still hung up on him after all these years, first noticing him in "Dead Calm." And he's the best reason of all for seeing "Jurassic Park,"
IMHO. (Saw it twice before I realized there were dinosaurs in
it.) Great eyes, smile, voice--he's the whole package, and that
lovely Kiwi accent is a plus.
6) Noah Wyle--an essence of sweetness in everything he does--unless he
turns it off and becomes a shark. He can do it, too. This
is the guy that mothers dream of having their daughters bring home--for
HER. His slightly shy smile, his self-deprecating humor, even his
off-screen devotion to his wife and family, I find all of this
incredibly attractive, although maybe in a less sexy, more "this is a
guy I'd love to have for a best friend" way.
7) Michael Biehn--it's pure coincidence that he also is a co-star of
Eric Close on Mag7. Michael would be on this list anyway. I
fell for him totally in "Aliens,"
playing the put-upon, laid-back warrior, Corporal Hicks. And I've really
appreciated him in anything he's done since. He's good looking,
sure, but there's more than that--a soft voice that can take on the
aspect of steel when called on. The willingness to chew the
scenery when it's called for, then the ability to pull it back,
too. I just LIKE this guy, and it's a shame that his career has
never taken off the way it should have.
8) Gerard Butler--see Colin Firth above and wrap it in a slightly more
mature physical form, maybe. But nice, yes, very nice. And
one of the most transparent faces I've ever seen.
9) Ed Harris--Hey, what's a little receding hairline? No
problem. Not when you have such a beautiful smile, smiling eyes,
a pure sense of presence when he comes on screen. First noticed
him in an old George Romero film, "Knightriders," and then in "The Right Stuff." Never forgot him, either.
10) Scott Glenn--Okay, he's not particularly good looking, but he's at
the top of my "there's something about that guy" list. And there
is. Maybe it's the smile that carries all the way up to his eyes,
or the deep, slightly monotone voice that still carries so much.
Looking back particularly at the first films I noticed him in, "The Right Stuff" and "Silverado," he just set my cockles on warp drive. No one else on the planet may agree, but there you go. He makes the cut.
Just missing the cut (but not by much): Hugh Jackman (who ever thought
that anyone could make Wolverine both menacing and very, very sexy?),
Denzel Washington (pure talent, great packaging), Kevin Kline
(versatile and very physical, a great singer and dancer, the love of my
sister's life, too), Kevin Costner (hey, I even liked him in "The Postman.") See how hard it is to restrict these things?
And this list could change as of tomorrow. I mean, I've seen the commercials for "Empire,"
the mini-series coming on ABC Tuesday night, and there's one very sexy
looking guy on there playing an ex-gladiator. Looked him up--his
name is Jonathan Cake. Yep, definitely could be a new list after
I've seen if he can act as well as he looks in that leather....
Now, I get to tag five people...the question is do I remember the user names of five people. Hmm....let's try
pegasus2966 ,
perimydith,
sallymn,
mrspadfoot , and
thomsolo,
for a male point of view, whether he's remarking on women or
otherwise. You listening in here, Thom? Here's your chance,
bro....
::I now ask for a cold wash cloth for
the back of my neck. Just contemplating all this male sexiness
adds a few degrees to the old temp here....::
Name 10 celebrities that you would
happily listen to for hours as they read the phonebook. (In order
of preference with 1 being the most attractive):
Again, order of preference is going to be approximate. Some of these guys I just can't choose between.
1) James Earl Jones--'nuff said.
2) Patrick Stewart--I'd follow him to the stars and back just to hear him say "Make it so."
3) Alan Rickman--whether he's playing a good guy (Col. Brandon, "Sense and Sensibility," or the worst villain (the Sheriff of Nottingham, "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves,) or someone we're still not sure about (Professor Snapes, the Harry Potter series,) I can close my eyes and love every word he says.
4) Sam Neill--did I mention that I love a Kiwi accent?
5) Ron Perlman--Oh, man, what a voice. He was by far the best thing on his old series, "Beauty and the Beast," and I've even bought a CD of music and poetry--read by him--that has led me to appreciate poetry as I never have before.
6) Hugh Jackman--did I mention that I love an Aussie accent?
7) Viggo Mortenson--even when he's not speaking Elvish, I can listen to him. A lot.
8) Russell Crowe--see Hugh Jackman.
9) J. Adam Young--yes, I hear the cries of "Who?" Well, he does count,
he has credits on the Internet Movie Database. And he's one of my
oldest friends. The name listed here is his screen name. I
know him as Jay. He has the greatest voice--deep, emotional,
soothing. The last time I saw him, I was in the ICU and he came
to read me the synopsis of one of my favorite shows, just
because. I barely remember it, but his voice came through the fog
of morphine, giving me a few minutes of focus on his reading. I
haven't seen him in a long time, and there are times I miss him
terribly. But if I never see him again, I'll remember his voice.
10) Dr. Phil McGraw--he has the most pleasant Texas accent I've ever heard, and I have found that I like a Texas accent.
And I tag
libertyrose ,
xanath ,
jeni_chan ,
bell_witch , and
aerden . Go for it, ladies.
(Question--I still can't figure out how to make an lj-cut when using the Rich Text Editor. Help?)
