Back again so soon....

We're getting networked.  My dad has located a computer guru who has upgraded his Gateway desktop so that it'll be a better fit with my Dell and my sister's Toshiba laptop, as a partner on a LAN--we're now a LAN, or will be entirely once the guru has my sister's laptop ready to link in.  We're mainly doing this so that they can use the DSL access, but it'll also mean that we can share my Dad's good printer while mine is getting looked at (it doesn't seem to want to feed the paper through.)  And it'll be easier for Sis to grab the songs I download from Itunes for her own use.  We just need to learn how to do these things.  My learning curve for computer related knowledge is fairly short, so I don't expect much trouble.  If nothing else, there's this "for dummies" book on the subject that I have here on the bed somewhere.

The guru is a nice older gentleman, in his sixties, most likely, named Duke.  He's friendly, efficient and seems to know what he's doing, and I can't ask for anything more than that in a computer guy.  We all need a computer guy, don't we?  If not, then we ARE the computer guy and other people need US.

Thanksgiving was exceedingly quiet, since we don't have any relatives within visiting distance.  Most of them have moved up to the Bay area or are somewhere around Sacramento.  How they can stand the heat up there I'll never know.  (The ones in the Bay area are inland, and too far from the actual ocean to get any break in the heat.  Livermore in the summer is No Fun.)  We got some turkey and all that goes with it from Boston Market, and we STILL have leftovers.  At least one more dinner's worth.  Oh, well, tomorrow night we're having pizza, and turkey leftovers for the last time on Sunday.  Ya just need a break from the tryptophan overdose which has had me falling asleep during every TV show I like since last night.  I think Boston Market adds the stuff to their turkey.  I've never been this much affected by the big turkey doze before.

I survived a trip to the doctor last Monday without getting spiked into the pokey, which is always a fear.  So far no ill effects from being out except maybe a little sore throat that might mean a cold coming on.  If a cold is all I caught going to Harbor this time (and we had to pass through the ER waiting room twice to get where we were going, thereby being exposed to who knows what) then I'll consider it lucky.  That place is an open petrie dish of infections waiting for the unsuspecting.

I re-watched that feature that was shot at the Sheldrick Wildlife nursery of the baby elephants, and now I'm more sure than ever that the baby at the beginning of the report is my Zurura.  They only show a glimpse of him, but I'm sure now that's the name that she said.  I still haven't tracked down a way to get the sequence transferred into a digital file, but I'm still asking around.

Well, the big turkey doze is hitting again, so away I go....
