we rush towards codependency as if our life were literally in the hands of a partner and vice versa. as if leaving their presence might directly cause their death itself. we hoard eachother's company and lock ourselves within eachother's hearts. and when we get there we reside there for months like willingly caged animals; tamed. we don't mind being puppets and we willingly let them into our hearts. they pry their way in like a virus to later kill and rip it out as a memento of sorts. they place it on their mantles, putrid and rotting. a beautiful chunk of human fleshiness, our love materialized, embodied, will sit passed out, waiting for revival, because we let ourselves feel. and this apparent rock bottom is the fault of our doctors and supposed loved ones. it's easy to shift the blame once we've screwed up.
