Personality:
Yuugi Mutou, raised in the upper level of a game shop, is a sweet and innocent boy (although he gets frustrated when people call him such things). He spends his days playing games, and completing puzzles, sitting alone at school or at home. Because of his shy, gutless nature, he isn't exactly close to anyone - the only people he would consider 'friends' would not think of him as such. He is, however, fiercely loyal to those he cares about, regardless.
Recently, though, when he finds himself in trouble, or his emotions being pushed to the edge...his personality partakes a nearly complete reversal.
Background:
Yuugi hardly remembers his parents, as they were often away travelling, and he was sent to live with his grandfather at a young age, in his game shop, where he has since remained. Raised around games and toys, he has grown a fondness for them, and, since he was young, has played with them. This only contributed to his shy nature, and so he ended up spending a lot more time by himself, playing games, than out with other children.
At the age of seven his grandfather gave him a mysterious puzzle that promised "dark power and knowledge", that hailed from a far off land. Intrigued, Yuugi was easily captivated by the rare, seemingly impossible puzzle - and spent the next eight years working on it, whenever he had the spare moment, or was feeling lucky. Now, at the age of fifteen, he finally solved the puzzle...and Yuugi has since experienced memory lapses from time to time, usually around the same time that someone is hospitalized, or goes through some other kind of trauma...
