Comics from the FUTURE!

Comic Books were later than usual at my local shop...

It was a slow week on top of that so we finally went today to pic up books.
Somehow I managed to buy some old books that I probably didn't need. The only new book I think I picked up was one of the whole three Marvel Comics I dare touch, The mini-series "Agents of Atlas". Very smart combination of gun-fu meets the "White Golden Age" (my own invention for 50's comics not really rooted in the Golden Age but not yet set in the Silver Age)
Clunky robots, talking gorillas, Marvel Boy not being a fucking psycho... Good stuff. The 50's is a largely ignored era for Marvel, most of the Marvel Universe is preoccupied in the Golden Age (Namor and Captain America) or all that came after Stan and Jack in 1961. It was good to see someone deconstruct an era that has hardly been touched on and mostly ignored.

I am getting off on a tangnet from my original thought.

One of the great suprises about having comic tastes like mine is that while the average, traditional , mundane, brainwashed comic fan has nothing to buy this week (OH NOES! NO CIVIL WAR! WHOSE SIDE AM I ON NOW?!?!?!) I always manage to have something weird pop up that I ordered 4 years ago or some overseas magazine or some such. These seem to be the weeks that haligen always gets her Fortean Times magazines too. It is a strange coincidence...

So it was to my suprise that this week, I got a book that was actually not late, but actually seems to be ...

FROM THE FUTURE!

Ironically it was a Doctor Who Yearbook.

take a look kiddos.

Did you notice it? Let me give you a closer look.

This book comes out in 200-fucking-7! I got one today! Take that shit Mark Millar! TARDIS technology and British no how beats American comic lateness every fucking day! Kudos to my friends across the pond, who get your comics all the way from next year.

Now I know why 2000 A.D. suffers lower sales these days, as opposed to the olden days. No one wants to read old books from 6 years ago, but in the 80's reading comics from the year 2000 was a helluva lot cooler.

Now I am going to find out what all the spoilers will be for next season! Adios!
