The headline as it reads from the AP today:
No. 2 al-Qaida leader in Iraq arrested
Okay, why is it that every guy we kill or arrest now is the "NUMBER TWO" guy. I realize that they have to get new "Number two" guys when the old ones go down, but why is it that we never get "Number one" or how many time is the guy really "Numbers 4-10" but the administration just calls them "the Number two guy" just to look like they are achieving something. Why don't we just stretch this a little further to make people feel better like we are achieving something over in the fucking desert shithole?
I can see it now
"No. 2 Leader in Baghdad in Iraq arrested"
"No. 2 Leader in Baghdad Swap Meet in Iraq killed in airstrike"
"No. 2 Leader of Yancy Street Gang in Sunni controlled area of a slum in Baghdad in Iraq dead in firefight"
See how far you can stretch this to make everyone a "Number two"?
Its almost as ridiculous as the old show "The Prisoner", in which every episode, a new leader would come in calling himself "The new Number 2". Bu that was just a television show, the gag never lied to war weary public or helped prolong putting our sons and daughters in harms way.
This joke is not very funny anymore.
