Sorry for not writing in so long! Wait, it was like 3 days...yeah, I'm addicted =P
Anywho, for any interested, the anniversary went smashingly! It began with a bout of insomnia for me, and sleeping til 6:30 pm the day of. But I got up feeling great, and we made it to dinner at 8. Matt took me to The Melting Pot, a fancy-schmancy fondue place, where we ended up spending about $100 on dinner. But it was so gooooood! Started of with some cheddar fondue with lots of yummy bread, then onto the main course: a few different cuts of steak, black tiger shrimp, salmon, and some chicken breast, all in bite sized pieces, and cooked in Coq Au Vin (seasoned broth with red wine, garlic, mushrooms, and garlic added.) Then we topped it all off with a dark chocolate/Bailey's/oreo cookie bits fondue with assorted yummy things for dipping. We were there for almost 3 hours. Just eating o.0!
After dinner, we headed downtown. First stop: checkin at the Hyatt, where we stayed on our wedding night <3 Then we realised that it was Monday, and Memorial day, so there were hardly any bars open...and the few that were were dead. It was still great, though. Went to Blue Ridge Brewery, had drinks, great conversation (at least when we weren't trying to think through drunken Furman students yelling.)
So then, back at the hotel... >:D
Nuff said!
Finally slept at about 5 am (well, Matt did. My insomnia revisited me =P) and got our wake up call at 9 am. We had wanted to relive the morning after the wedding, so we dragged ourselves down to the hotel restraunt, where we'd had a huge breakfast buffet last year. You can imagine our dissapointment when we found that the buffet had been called off due to low occupancy, and had to order off of the menu. Was still great, though, and when the staff (who were the nicest people EVER,) found out it was our anniversary, and that we'd stayed there on our wedding night, they COMPED OUR ENTIRE MEAL! It was like a $30 breakfast! Score! Anyway, we stopped by the front desk and complimented the manager personally :D
Anyway, had a great time walking lazily in and out of the shops on Main St., then headed home a few inscence sticks and a 1 lb. bag of candy from the Mast General Store richer. Not extremely exciting, but the weather was beautiful, and we had fun.
Oh, and my presents! Matt got me a real wedding band! Long story as to why I didn't have one before, but trust me, this is exciting :D And the kicker: a big box of Godiva chocolate!! Now you see why I love him?
So yes, I have now been married a full year. Here's to many more!
