Chapter 4

Relief hits you with a pleasant impact as you reach the end of the long corridor leading back to the main entrance. "Pleasant" quickly becomes "painful" and "relief" quickly becomes "devestation" as you arrive at the entrance only to realize that it is no longer an entrance but a large brick wall. There is no time for indecisiveness. You decide to run down another corridor as small progress is lost with the crowd catching up to you.

Why are you suddenly becoming groggy and light-headed? There is no time for questioning your internal physical condition. You keep running through doors and corridors. Through each door lies another deception. In the windows of closed doors, you see outside. As you open the door, you see yet another corridor; another set of stairs. Going down stairs proves to be particularly difficult as your legs don't seem to want to compensate for the drop. Your knees feel stiff. But you keep running regardless of your deteriorating condition. More deceptive doors. More agonizing stairwells. More light-green corridors. More fear.

Each time you think you may have evaded your pursuers, you once again begin to hear their footsteps and incoherent ramblings...progressively incoherent ramblings. You pass offices of people who stare in amazed bewilderment. Is everyone else in this building oblivious, or are they in on it too? There is no way to tell. The only sure thing you have right now is to keep running.

Suddenly, you fall. As your blurred vision comes into partial focus, your pursuers hover over top of you with syringes. Their faces are distorted with the exception of shimmering, silver eyes and what appear to be long horns protruding from the extreme ends of the their brow. One of the figures sticks the syringe into a tiny bottle who's contents are unknown to you as you are not able to read the label. For some reason, you are helpless to move or even struggle. All you can do is watch as the nurse pulls the plunger of the syringe to flood the chamber with the unknown substance. The syringe approaches your neck...the carotid artery. Just before the syringe is stuck into your neck and your fate is decided for you...
