I’m smiling. You know why, because this is the first week in a very long time that Santana was as well. Not just the random stray smile, but repeated smiles. It feels good. Even when drama happens it feels good.
this is amazing and poignant, as all of your reviews are. i really hope your optimism is vindicated!
i hope you do write a separate post about santana's quinn-related anger. did you get the impression when santana yelled "you suck so bad, quinn fabray. i won!" that she was actually yelling that at the heterosexual world? i'm reminded of your review of "duets" and your/santana's anger at "lucky"-- that for santana, quinn represents exactly what she doesn't have or could never be.
We've come this far so I'd like to think a fair amount of hope is justified :)
Yeah, once I get the time I'll prolly sit down and write up some thoughts on their relationship, because it is really quite complex and really nice in a kinda dark and twisted away.
I loved this episode. It was just incredibly enjoyable to watch, which I haven't felt in a while. I mean I've loved all the Brittana stuff lately obviously, but its been really depressing, and I haven't cared that much about the rest of the show (other than when Rachel was being epic and awesome and independant

Yeah, this was such a good episode all around. Since Original Songs it's been a little up and down with the other storylines. But for this I loved all of it. Came together nicely

Wonderful review! Love the depth you put into your thoughts!
I get the feeling that all their lives, Brittany and Santana have only had each other. Of course we don't how long they have supposed to known each other.
I love how in such a limited amount of time they still manages to throw in little hints of who these characters are beyond the limited screen time they get. At first her references were just random fun, but now they keep happening every episode and it's just perfection. Add it to Naya's acting and suddenly Santana is a whole person with kinks, likes and fears.
Plus as a history buff myself, I adore that this just so happen to be her personal preference. Gives me nice little mental images of her pouring over textbooks for no real reason and enjoying lazy Sunday afternoons in front of the History Channel. :D
