Brittana Review of "Rumours"

May 05, 2011 16:20

Lets start this off with a personal recap. I am an optimistic Santanacentric angst-whore. The following musings are my own truth based on that. Just know I don't even try to be objective. There is no gain in it for me. My pleasure lies in subjective speculation. Hopefully you'll find a little bit of entertainment in that as well ( Read more... )

Followed your link from brittana...

If you’ve never had to come out you have no right to judge Santana’s behaviour. If you have come out you still have no right to judge her.

THANK YOU for this. I've seen so many comments to the effect of "Just come out, already!" and I just want to metaphorically shake those people.

Things like this take time. Even if you are strong and confident you need some time to grasp your own emotions and feelings. It's just...very very difficult. Shows like glee is helping making it easier, but we still have ways to go. So yes. It just makes me sad when people can't find the compassion to understand how much pain she is in. Don't get me wrong I want to shake her as well for the hurt she is causing Brittany. But I can't find it in me to blame her hesitation.

And you're welcome :)

I know I just sit here like a gold fish with my mouth open. I cannot believe Songbird. Like...how is that even real? They were the funny cheerleaders in the back. Now suddenly they've become one of the most heartfelt love stories on my TV. And on top of it all they just so happens to be a female same-sex couple. I am in shocked and in awe. It is a brilliant thing to be. :D

I thought Sexy was bad. I actually think this managed to surpass that. Sigh. So good. So damn good.

Thanks for you review. I couldn't believe Songbird either...I almost feel off my couch. In my head I'd been imagining she sang it to Brittany, but didn't think it would actually happen like that. So loving, and heartfelt, and from one female character to another. I did not know what to do with myself, and missed the next fifteen minutes because I couldn't concentrate....

And thank you for the comment :)

Still can't believe it. Trying to cut down on rewatching the scene, cause I feel like I could easily watch it to pieces. Pretty much flailed for hours after first watch :D

I identify so completely with Santana, that I knew the second Brittany asked her to come on "Fondue For Two" I knew it would crash and burn. My status at school ( A Church Of England School at that) was that of the perfect little's vicars daughter, who was head girl, got the lead roles in all the plays, sung all the solo's was meant to date the most gorgeous guy at school...and then I told ONE person at my school ( who was supposed to be my best friend) and then the next morning everyone looked at me differently ( ... )

And this is exactly why the character beyond the love story is so important. There is so much value in taking the time to work through the storyline. Not give us a quick fix, but actually work at it. Let us work along side her. Both identifying from the past and the present.

Yeah. I am so impressed by what they have created and the way in which Naya is bringing this to life.

Do it! Half of the fun of watching and shipping is to sit there in your room and really mull it over. Trying to make sense of it all. It just grows and becomes more important and more interesting when you do.

I'm actually not entirely sure she doesn't understand the consequences of her actions at this point. Back in Duets I agree, she never understood it would almost cost her Brittany. But by now I think she has enough insight into how badly she's hurt Brittany and the fact that her fears might actually destroy their chances. Because that pos-Songbird hug felt so much like a goodbye. Like she knew her inability to come out could actually result in losing Brittany. And the intense pain on her face during Revert Locker also points to that she knows. Far too well what this might do to them.

So much pain. So good. :D

And thank you.

Wait, are you saying it's not normal to listen to Songbird five times a day??
