For those of you with whom I spoke of my plans in the summer...
I've gotten most of the math done. I'm just getting specifications for the engine (or engines) and the power supplies. Things look promising. There's a 3000hp DC engine designed by a guy in California that would suit my purposes quite well, and Mitsubishi Electronics makes some mighty powerful and efficient Photovoltaic generators.
Then I start with the design of the crew compartment and engineering section.
Then it's time to look for a scale model and get some funding. Also, if anyone knows an electrical engineer, I would dearly like to speak to them. I need a refresher course.
This may actually take off, though.
