I have somehow cracked into some free airwaves from Bush Int'l Airport in Houston, TX and at this juncture...I want to say...I am ready to go home. I have been in this airport since 3:30PM. It is now 9PM. Flight was supposed to leave at 7PM. It's all good I suppose but...we need a better way to spend our time in airports.
I think all travellers can agree on a few basic concepts:
1) airports are crowded
2) flights (in relation to how much we want to get to our destination) are delayed
So what can we do about this? I propose 3 things really. I think both would be incredibly helpful to the collective mood of the waiting masses.
1) True Internet Cafe's, where people can go and plug in and charge up their various electronic devices while sitting in a comfortable manner vs the way we all sit with our laptops at the gate (where there is 1 plug for every 20304326 passengers waiting). I would gladly pay "airport prices" for such a place.
2) Sex Cafe's. Yes I will say that again. Sex Cafe's. Take out all those shitty little Hudson News locations at all the airports and replace them with sex cafes. I wouldn't go, I just see profits there. Why? People are away from home, they cannot take care of their business sometimes while on the road. Then they get to xyz airport and find themselves waiting and delayed still with pent-up frustration. What better way to deal with this than to go relieve tension with someone else in a little room where Hudson News used to be? I am telling you people I see profits here. Sorry, I know this one is strange, I just see WAY too many irritated people in this airport and I think sex would help them take the edge off.
3) Sleep Cafe's. Similar (though in completely different (and cleaner) rooms than sex cafes, beds Asian style (think of a tic tac toe grid of 9 beds against a wall on 3 levels. Maximize space. Let people rent out the little rooms if they realize their flight is delayed and they are tired and pissy. Get some type of electric monitor that lets them sleep until 15 minutes before projected boarding. Charge an hourly rate of $10/hr. You would BANK the money.
What do you people think? Am I deliriously tired or do I have some good ideas? Thanks!!
