SPOILER! DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANNA KNOW!
Contains information on future movies, and an extra scene in Iron Man.
Ok, so the cutscene at the end of the movie featured Samuel L Mother Fucking Jackson (yes, thats his proper name) as Nick Fury, offering Spark information on the Avenger Initiative. After much digging through Wiki, I've found some interesting tid-bits.
Marvel has rights to produce a ton of new movies in the upcoming years.
The next Marvel movie, The Incredible Hulk, will feature a cameo from Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Spark. Ok, not that big a news. But keep these few things in mind: Ed Norton is Hulk. Robert Downey Jr is Iron Man. Samuel L Mother Fucking Jackson is Fury.
Ok, that being said, lets look at Marvel's list of upcoming movies:
Thor, scheduled for release in 2009. Rumored to have Kevin McKidd, not a big name actor, playing a part in Hannible Rising as his main draw.
Captain America, scheduled for release in 2009. While no cast has been named, you would assume the role of one of the most famed super heroes ever would go to a big namer. Names that come to mind: Matt Damon, Brad Pitt (he might ruin it though), Mark Whalberg. They COULD go with a relative unknown, but that would be too big a risk for a superhero who's not "mainstream"
Spiderman 4, scheduled for release in 2009. Of course, Tobey Maguire would be the first choice for Spidey, but he's stated in numerous interviews that he was done, although he may come back. If not, that leave Jake Gyllenhaal in the drivers seat to be the webslinger, and I actually think that would be an improvement. Then again, Jake G is the only guy I'd go gay for.
Nick Fury, scheduled for 2010 release. Again, Samuel L Mother Fucking Jackson.
Ant-Man, scheduled for 2010. A near non-factor superhero, still getting a movie made after him. No need to name a big actor to it, and Alan Tudyk would be perfect for the job.
Now, what am I listing all these for? Well, because each of those movies has a character who is connected to the Avenger team. Well, ok, so the character have showed up before, whats that got to do with anything? This:
Iron Man director Jon Favreau said he would like to direct a film adaptation of The Avengers. This would be a crossover to fictional universes in other upcoming Marvel films such as The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America. He also explained that Marvel has told him that "they're pretty clear on wanting to do it with the actors who've established the roles or to not do it at all." He continued, "I think it's a good idea if you use the characters established in the other franchises that then come together for an event."
What does that mean for you and I?
The Avengers, scheduled for a 2010 release, WILL FEATURE ALL THE ACTORS FROM THE ORIGINAL MOVIES. This means Samuel L Mother Fucking Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., Edward Norton, *Matt Damon*, *Jake Gyllenhaal*, *Alan Tudyk*, and *Kevin Mckidd*, all in one movie. While I am speculating on 4 movies, 2 of them will have to feature big name actors (Captain America and Spiderman). That means at least 5 of the top actors of this time, all in one superhero movie. The thought of it almost makes me want to cream myself.
And yes, you can take all my predictions and lock them away. Don't worry, if you forget about them and I end up right, you'll be reading this again in the future.
