Good fun...

For people who know Lakeland, you will understand this a little more. If you don't, it'll probably still be entertaining.

When I come home from work, I take Lakeland Hills to Bartow Road to Edgewood to Lakeland Highlands. Tonight some truck pulled up next to me at a light on Lakeland Hills. He peels out when the light turns green, clearly trying to impress me or something. He races himself to the stoplight of Bartow Road, so I let him turn the light green for me, slow down until it does, and pass him as he trys to get up to speed. This apparently pissed him off, as he proceded to floor it past me as fast as he could, right into another stoplight, which I let him turn green for me and pass him again while he's trying to get to speed. Again, he floors it, and continues to turn lights green for me all down Bartow Road. AFter about the 4th time he does this, he decided not to floor it, and hangs back a little, letting me get a lead. I start to think maybe he's learned something, but alas, he floors it again, and passes me at about 70MPH while laying on his horn, directly to, you guessed it, another red light. When I see him turning onto Edgewood, where I was going, I see what's about to happen in my mind...

Turning onto Lakeland Highlands from Edgewood has become a trick for me. From my late night experiences, I have realized that the light where you would turn has no trigger for when a car wants to turn. It will show a red turn signal until a car approaches from Lakeland Highlands. But as many of you probably know, Lakeland becomes a ghost town at about 12, so waiting for another car to come to that light could take 15 minutes easy. I've found that if you continue straight, you can do a U turn a little past the light, then turn right onto Lakeland Highlands, bypassing the light and the 15 minutes of sitting at it.

Well this guy goes speeding down Edgewood, and the whole time I'm thinking to myself "please get in the turn lane moron...." Sure enough, he does, so I bypass the light, do a U-ie, and, just for show, slow down a little than I normally would when taking the right turn. I then lay on my horn, floor it down the first part of Lakeland Highlands, and continue laughing my ass off. Last I saw of the macho truck was as I was about a mile ahead of him, while he was still sitting at the light.

The thing I really hope happened was that he had a girl he was trying to impress in the car with him. She woulda been laughing her ass off at him as I continue on without the showboating he had done for the 20 minutes we were near eachother.

Ahhh... Good fun...
