Thank you Texas. I don't particularly like them, but hopefully this will get people to shut up about USC.

Sure, USC is good. But they're also in one of the weakest defensive conferences in the NCAA.

Reggie Bush is good. But not everyone's going to be slow enough to just run or dance past.

Matt Leinhert is good. But he showed a total lack of class with the "We're still a better football team, we just made errors" comment.

Am I a Texas fan? No. Am I glad they won? Yes. All the talk since the season ended was about USC's history making next championship. Not about Texas finally winning won. Yes, they showed packages on Texas, but they were all about how they would have to play to stand a chance, or how they would have to act, or whatever. On the other side was USC this, USC that. Just like you hear all year. USC ran into "powerhouses" AZ State and Fresno State and barely made it out alive. They needed a miracle to beat ND, and barely got it.

I'm not trying to take away from USC, they're good, and they can win games. But the NCAA/BSC/ESPN/ABC/Whoever else need to stop this whole "Whatever team is number one is far superior than any other team" thing. They do it all the time. Once the #1 team is predicted in the preseason rankings, they're god until they lose. If they don't lose, don't expect them to fall from #1, because god forbid the preseason predictions be wrong.

Next year, I hope whoever is ranked #1 loses each week. College football wouldn't know what to do.
