Deep Breath Taken

So this past weekend was awesome for many reasons:
* Sink rocked the House (pun intended, throw stuff at me later)
* I've resolved to go to USC for grad school (instead of Chapman; I've met alumni who complain of being unemployed)
* I finished the first draft of my W.B. Yeats screenplay!

The screenplay is 106 pages long, which is a good length for a drama (110 pp. at most), all the major plot points are in all the right places, I just need to smooth everything out.

Now life feels so peachy keen. It's like I have this giant marble sculpture of W.B. Yeats, and for the next month, I just chip away at all the parts that don't resmble Yeats at my leisure. The glory of the screenplay is that you can put chips back in :)

The big problem now though is that I have so much more research to do: For example, I need to rewrite the scene that first introduces Yeats to the reader/viewer. In this scene, Yeats charms a room full of literary types by chatting with Ezra Pound about the first time he met James Joyce. In order to get this two-page-long scene right, I need to read chapters from a James Joyce Biography and a W.B. Yeats biography to get the anecdote right, and then read letters from Ezra Pound and W.B. Yeats to make sure I'm writing their dialogue in the correct 1916 London vernacular. Guh...

But I'm such a literature nerd, I think this is fun. I *actually* hum the Indiana Jones theme as I run around the stacks looking for some obscure literary tomes. I am such a nerd...
