This might seem rather basic, and maybe even a bit boring to some, but one of my favorite books is A History of Magic, by Bathilda Bagshot. The title pretty much tells you what it's about, but it's really not as boring as you would think. It's also one of the first big books I ever read by myself, and to this day I still find it fascinating. I have most of the editions that have been released, actually.
You know, and now that I think about it... That book might have something to do with me liking history in general so much. I'd go through it with so much interest that I was always done before I realized what page I was on. And I would read out loud constantly to anyone willing to listen, or I'd ask Gran and Harry if they already knew whatever it was that I was reading about that day. Sometimes I'd do both. What can I say, I just found it interesting! By the time I got to Hogwarts I think I raised my hand for those lessons as much as Hermione did at my age. (And yes, I'm very proud of that)
I won't say how many times I've re-read it by now, because ... let's just say it's a big number. But if you ever feel interested in reading something? A History of Magic is a great read, and it's extremely informative.
