1. Actually
To read or hear about or even witness the effects of willing of power... did nothing at all to prepare Caleb for how it felt and what it actually was like.
2. Behavior
He never even considered complaining about being the first one to face the consequences of what any of them did, as the oldest of the four - just tried to seem on good behavior and, when possible, to have as much fun as any of them.
5. Damaging
Magic could fix a lot of harm that they could face or do to one another, but the teenager only had to think of his father to know all too well how damaging it really was.
--
His mother told him, his godfather told him, his father's final action told him - but the years and years of hearing the hiss of the respirator still proved to have been too damaging for Caleb's trust and respect for his father to ever truly recover.
--
The fifth of them, or perhaps he should think of Chase as the first, has been through and done so much which was hurtful and damaging and destructive that Caleb does, hidden from where it could become a self-fulfilling prophecy, occasionally wonder if trying to do better won't turn out, in fact, futile.
6. Eclectic
It takes Caleb too long to get the hang of Reid, but when he figures out his eclectic friend, it turns out to have been just as much his own fault as Pogue had hinted at for years.
7. Faithful
That is what Caleb always meant to be, until the too-fresh memory of a pool of blood inching wider over a hospital floor makes another's perceived need outweigh his own principles.
8. Handsome
My Pogue, for me.
This one might not get cross-posted to the comm. ;P but he had to say it.
9. Metaphor
Even if some of the ways they skirted around letting people know just what had happened could be technically called metaphors... they were still lies.
10. Opposite
The bright mirror and the dark, Caleb's role changed depending on whether he was looking into Pogue's hazel eyes or into Chase's blue-green.
B. Horny
Each and every one of the four of them knows very well how to contain and control that and behave perfectly gentlemanly, but they usually are - both addicted to touch, and horny.
C. Sexy
It's part of the whole 'sons of Ipswich' legacy, obviously - unless one loses control.
H. Make love
Caleb never learns how to have sex in any other way - even when there's hatred or fear in the mix, as well.
I. Dirty talk
Usually Reid's special.
J. One night stand
The phrase just doesn't cover what actually happened.
