I had a really nice birthday-past-few-days. Yesterday was my birthday; now I am 25!
First I'll break it down in terms of baked goods. There have been a lot:
Amy made vegan coffee cake for my housemates and me!
Erin brought 4 cupcakes to kraftnite!
Nancy from the day-shift at work made me a chocolate and vanilla cake!
A new dancing friend named Melissa brought zucchini bread she had made me to "Manic Monday!"
My mom made me banana bread!
Caitlin made me a vegan Boston cream pie!
We celebrated my birthday on Sunday since Tuesday is a regular work day. Arthur's friend Dan was here from Eerie, PA; and Evan's boyfriend Eric was here too! Sunday morning we had a Rainbow Ranch holiday photo shoot. Arthur and I had made an xmas tree (of sorts) out of wire hangers, and we decorated it with Evan's ornaments. I'll have to post a picture when I get them. Surprisingly, it was a very sunny and mild day. Arthur, Dan, and Amy went to a Muppet Matinee, and Caitlin and I took a walk down to railroad tracks behind the Village Gate.
Then we all met up for bowling at my new favorite place to walk to from our house, L&M Lanes. It's this neighborhood bar with 2 floors, 6 lanes per floor, and is run by this old couple. It's really awesome. Evan and Eric came late, so we bowled half their games for them. As Arthur says, "Caitlin is our star athelete," but this time she only beat me by one point! I've gone bowling thrice in the past few months for the first time in years, and am improving like a fiend.
Then we had kraftnite later on, and Emily Good and Erin came over.
In bad news, Eric's car had gotten stolen over night, right off the street in front of our house, so he and Evan were sorting things out with the police, filing a report and everything. Since then, the car has been recovered, but it is in bad shape. It looks like the insurance company might decide to total it, and it's just causing a lot of hassles. It's pretty scary to think about.
On my birthday, I got to spend some quality thrift-store-time with Kate, which is rare these days. (I found something really amazing to send to Bethany!) Kate promises we're going to spend some quality fake-date birthday-time after she's finished grading papers, sometime after December 20th.
I went to my parent's for dinner break, and my mom had made food I can eat (lentil pilaf with carmelized onions, mashed sweet potato and parsnips). They gave me a coupon for a free oil change, which is just what I need. I got lots of nice long-distance birthday wishes, throught the computer and telephone!
When I got home from work at 11:45pm, Caitlin and Arthur said "happy birthday!" and we ate vegan Boston cream pie! Caitlin gave me some loose leaf teas too, and Arthur made this awesome Andro-card with a coupon for a free computer desk! (I had given him my computer desk when he got a job working from home, and am currently set up on the floor next to him, while he's working. We joked that it's like "take your son to work day" ... every day!)
Evan gave me a poster of The Clash and some pins! And Amy gave me an awesome mini, hot pink fannypack, a scarf (that she made!) and a change purse with dinosaurs on them, and an awesome compilation CD called "Senses Working Overtime."
I've had a cold for almost two weeks now, and there are some things weighing heavily on my mind (this is so difficult), but on the other hand, I feel really loved and happy. Thank you everybody for such fun!!!!
